Whitley Bay AS - 4th Open Summer Match result - Howick 03/08/14

20 anglers fished today in very blustery conditions at Howick & Craster and it proved pretty hard going for most, with 9 managing to weigh in as follows:

1st - Garry Appleton, 4 fish 9lb 8oz
2nd - Mick Clark, 4 fish 8lb 13oz
3rd - Dave Milne, 3 fish 5lb 9oz
4th - Richie Dodsworth, 3 fish 4lb 8oz
5th - Chris hossack, 3 fish 3lb 14oz
6th - Kenny Bowen, 2 fish 3lb 9oz
7th - Phil Gee, 2 fish 2lb 13oz
8th - Paul Hossack, 2fish 2lb 4oz
9th - Matty Bell, 1 fish 2lb 2oz

Heaviest Fish - Dave Milne, codling 3lb

Looks like the sea that lifted a bit yesterday brought lots of small codlings with it as there were also a good many undersize - here's hoping for better things for the next match, again at Howick, in 2 weeks time.

Wind was a horrendous crosswind - casting out the wind was stripping my reel nearly empty & had to reel in about 100 yds of slack line every time, and still had a helluva bow in the wind! Lost a lot more gear than usual as a result (And a fish or two on the ledge).
