16 fished today's match around the Newton area - conditions were very hard going with a pretty big sea making a lot of marks unfishable, but 6 managed to weigh in:

1st - Mick Clark, 2 fish for 4lb 9oz
2nd - Adam Johnson, 1 fish for 3lb 12oz (Heaviest Fish)
3rd - Steve Williams, 1 fish for 2lb 15oz
4th - Andy Grief, 1 fish for 2lb 13 oz
5th - Steven Alexander, 1 fish for 1lb 13oz
6th - Garry Appleton, 1 fish for 1lb 6oz

Mick Clark with the first, and bigger, of his 2 fish, this one 2lb 10oz

The heaviest fish of the day, Adam Johnson 3lb 12oz

Next match is in 2 weeks time, Sun 4 July, 1.30 - 5pm at Beadnell - here's hoping for better things then

Was a very hard day, not alot of action. Just hope for settled weather next time. Gary were u using silloth crab ;-) lol. Mick using blyth crab lol.

I've tried to give my advice on another thread that u want settled seas when fishing in the Kelp beds in the summer but got shot down as usual! lol.

There werelots of fish up there as well on thurs Gary when the conditions were right. Thats why I bottled it at the weekend when I seen the sea coming over Tynemouth pier!

It was a bit dis-heartening knowing the sea would still be big & I'm sure it put quite a few people off - at least at Newton you can find a bit of shelter from the worst of it. Geoff King was telling me he'd had five on tuesday just a bit further up the Emblestones from where we fished on sunday, but it was almost flat. I'm sure there would have been some better bags if conditions had been better.

I didn't see the post you mentioned Peter, but flat seas are a must if you're fishing for the reddies in the summer - I don't know what it is but too much movement and they seem to scatter - it's a different story in the winter though!

Here's hoping for better things at Beadnell in a couple of weeks
