Started at whitley pipe 2 hours before low water and was surprised by how big the sea was. A 6' swell was rolling into the bay. Got on a bit bit early & had first cast from behind the pipe. Got a fish on but lost it on the ledge (was fishing on my own so did not risk going for it). As the tide dropped I moved & fished the rocks at the bend, as the pipe knocks a bit of the sea off here. Had two casts & got 2 codling around the 2 lb mark. Fished 'till bottom water, without another touch. Sea looke like it was getting bigger so I moved to Tynemouth beach & fished the first 2 hours of the flood at the boiler hole. Again first two casts produced 2 codling also around 2 lb. Packed in around 00:30. All fish were caught on lug/crab and returned to fight again.
