why be so secretive

tony.codling

Well-known member
what i cant understand about all this mark x stuff is that it came from
a north yorkshire lad now these lads have miles and miles of rough
coast kelp sand rocks everything that cod thrive in i mean isnt whitby
not supposed to be the cod capital of england
the point im getting at is there must be so many shots down there
( even virgin waters ) where you should be able to pull a cod or two out all year round any weather

on the other foot from shields pier to roker pier we have about 6 miles
of mixed terrain which gets fished to death off all the lads
and to make matters worse when i leave for work at 7-0 clock in the
morning i always look at the sea and normally count about 20 lights
just south of our pier all fishing boats
now everybody has to make a living but i think to myself what chance
have we got :(
and i think the same could be said about northumberland too

so next time your gloating spare a thought for us pleasure fisherman
who love this sport as well

cheers tony

Tony, only time I\'ll post a mark x is either when a) I\'m not supposed to be there, or b) Its over Scotland and I don\'t want the place fished out (like the Isle of Whithorn and Burrow Head is now)

Any other time, I\'ll tell people.

hi all
well it was me that was been secretive and this reason was not so that the mark was kept a secret but over the last few days i have looked in on the forum a lot and noticed that there are always members on line but these names never contiribute anything at all (thats there decision and up to them ) but my belief in these forums is that we come together to help each other and by helping each other we all contribute that is my view
so any member that contributes can get good and up to date valid information
but if i get a good result i would share it with members of nesa but i will not share the information with people that do not contribute thats why we have private messages
one other reason that it was kept secret from the world seeing is that i dont know if you are aware that we also have comercial fishermen that read sites including this one also when i fish regulary i see geordies fishing down yorkshire way when asked why they have driven down here they always reply we heard that there was plenty of fish here where do they get them reports tackle shops internet sites match results also whatch out for when you are getting good results up your way i bet you see the yorkshire lads traveling up your way how do they know i bet there are some of them silent members on here just watching where the fish are
i am not against anyone traveling to fish another area as i do this myself and i have been given help but i now believe i have joined what is a great site and we are all here to help each other and help anyone i will so if you fancy travelling down to yorkshire and would like some help i will try
i just hope this explains a little about why i did what i did and my beliefs
also one last thing when i go fishing i drive 75 miles to my nearest venue sometimes i will drive 120 miles that is how much i love my sport hope this does not offend anyone but if it does then i do apologise

Aye that\'s fair enough Sean ,also Davy I agree with the point you made a while back about the years of groundwork needed to gain knowledge of a mark or area just to be flippantly given away to everyone .

Personally, I\'d much rather read a report of somebody havnig a good session and catching fish than NOT read the report - doesn\'t matter whether they say where they were, or not........each to their own.

Sean\'s right about the commercial guys looking in on here - that\'s why I\'d much rather (in the case of Bass catches) read about \"mark x\" then have the location broadcast on the \'net.
If you read a catch report which doesn\'t give away the location of the mark fished (for WHATEVER reason), then send the poster a PM asking for more details.....simple as that. ;)

to be honest lads i have not seen any comercials close in all season yet!
and thats fishing from blyth beach all the way up to seahouses

cheers
mark :D

This subject has been talked about many times on here.
A couple of years back somebody mentioned that it was made known that a particular location (don\'t think it was in the N.E.) was throwing up a lot of good sized Bass. They posted a picture of a commercial boat which had (the following day) netted off the whole area, using the breakwater wall to secure one end of their net.

Not saying that this happens all the time (and I know the post which started all this off again wasn\'t about Bass), but.......you just don\'t know WHO is reading whatever\'s posted.

As I\'ve said........if you want any further info on any catch reports you read, contact whoever it was who posted it.....I\'m sure they\'d be happy to help.

it makes no difference to me if you name your shots or not cos i fish
from target rock to seaburn and i wont change
i just thought it would be nice to be nice and give lads a talking point
i peddle along the cliff tops along the pier all the time when im not at work and i like to see whats going down

as for this commercial stuff i hardly think the uk fishing fleet will be out
in force on the strength of a couple of cod on the rocks

\"as for this commercial stuff i hardly think the uk fishing fleet will be out

Lol Tony...........I suspect ya reet ;)

Tony codling, some of the mark X topics are a bit of a wind up i think.
but on the other hand you only have to look at how busy the back of the doors has become over the last few years.
I can remember the days when there were only a handful of anglers fished it.
Now you have to be there to walk the tide off to make sure you get a spot. thats the main reason why i keep so many of my marks to my self, its not that i want to be unsocial but if i posted the catches from lets say Jackies Beach you can bet your bottom dollar there would be a few anglers there before you next tide and you would struggle to squeeze in.

I have had this conversation with quite a few of the lads from NESA over the last couple of months. Since the site was made to log in to read.

There have been quite a few arguements for and against, giving your catch reports from your favourite mark.

The main thing that has bugged me for that time is, a certain amount of so called well known, experienced superstars, log into NESA every day.

Alan Charlton made a post a few weeks ago to TC saying we are giving a service. Not quite a quote there and not having a pop Alan.

You were right this site is helping people with there fishing but.

Why should people give up all of there information to the whole world when you have these \"superstars\" that have won loads of competitions and never once hand over a small amount of their knowledge to another person.

The people that I am talking about probably won\'t read this unfortunately as it is not written in the catch report area.

Before you all start having a pop at me for posting this, ask the people that I fish with first, as I will tell anyone whatever they want to know about a mark or about bait or whatever I can help them with.

The same people will tell you that they have given me the same, as that is what NESA is about.

I hope that at least one of these so called superstars do find their way out of catch reports and manage to make a first post but I have my doubts.

As far as the commercial fleets go, no they will never bother us. I will say this though.

Last year there were some good reports on here about Bass being caught from a certain beach. The following day a boat was seen on the same beach trawling as close in as he could get, coincidence? well they won\'t get a second chance from me.

Jim.

Totally agree Jim - i will let people know if i have had fish only via a PM though - ask Davyred ,it took me all night to type the damn thing :P :P

Well said Jim, but regarding commercial boats you just have to look at one of TC\'s posts from late last year. A photo of a commercial boat with its nets out, inside the bay at South Shields. This type of action does no good for shore fishing.

Interesting posts on this thread but I do like the last one about the Super Star but theres more than one no doubt Jim (actually theres one or two super stars want to pick there rubbish up on Blyth pier before they leave lol).
Personally I\'ll tell anyone where I\'m catching fish,I dont get out enough to be worried that someone will be standing in my spot the next night, plus how many marks fish night after night, probably none,I wont report any Bass catch reports and I wont say if I\'m fishing somewhere illegal or out of bounds sort of speak,BTW I dont fish competitions just in case anyone picks up on my Out of Bounds quote :D
