i think a north westerly will do nothing to lift the sea,we need a anything but westerly(blowing out to sea),good blow straight north or south is what we need,even better a low pressure to naturally lift the sea,no westerly even 50mph will flatten it
depending on what part of coast you are fishing,doesnt lift it at shields,ive fished it many times,maybes the north pier shelters us from it,south westerly does nowt either
The reason why a northwesterly confuses people is because on our part of the coast it still feels partly like its an off shore wind, however its what happenings further north and out to sea that matter. The wind generates a swell and this in turn arrives at our shore in the form of nice rolling waves![]()
