not very trustworthy i have sold crab on here myself and none of that carry on has gone on and some of the lads have had a good bargain ,if he wants to sell them over it shud be set as a cheaper rate so atleast he will get sommit back in the end ,second hand bait lol

Could put them on ebay. Got to be better than that "PEELER" they sell loads of on there. I bought them once:mad: paste in a net rather than crab.

i dont use the over-rated bait i stick to lug and rag and why pay all that money for bait and have to lose it all when you could sell it to someone who wants it not saying i wouldnt tell them what happened and discount the price alot but still i dont see why anyone should lose that amount of money.

if someone is willing to buy it after being told what has happened then so be it no harm done everones a winner and sean dont lose out on as much as he thought he would.

marsbar 2morro are mine ill be weighing in crabs if i have to lol

dont get me wrong crab has its days cod will move in searching for the last run of them ,but soon as winter kicks in worm will produce better than frozen crab ,ya will still get odd hardish crab in codling when gutted but cos they will eat anything really on a good sea etc ,and the end of winter they come in search for early crab again which ya can pick up some good fish so most like to keep a supply for this time a year mostly

What a nightmare,i would`ve went bonkers.Well ive used crab that have thawed out and then refroze again, and can honestly say i had fish take it no problem,i would use them no hesitation.

Interesting Post.

Interesting Post.

Hello all,

It's been interesting reading this post and the different views that people have regarding their favourite baits. I'm especially surprised at the differing opinions regarding crab.

I thought I'd share my opinion, for what it's worth!

Frozen crab, usually cocktailed with lug, is my main winter bait and I use it right the way through the season and I've took many good fish and bags through the Christmas period and well into the New Year. In my opinion there are few fish that will turn their nose up at a smelly crab bait, especially in coloured water. I also like mussel and I think that it's a very underated bait especially over heavy ground.

I think a lot may depend on where you fish also, for instance over cleaner ground and beaches plain worm baits come into their own and a couple of juicy yellowtails are hard to beat and can be cast a canny distance if this is required. Also in the Tyne frozen crab are the top bait.

I have also re-frozen crabs that I have allowed to defrost and have caught fish on them.

Like I say though these are only my opinions and I hope that they have been of interest or help.

Regards Ian.

Thats good to know. We can do a controlled (ish) experiment - you dont use crab all season and we will watch and see how your catch rate compares to those using crab :D:D

it couldnt be controlled as i might not fish as oftern as others do or they might not fish as much as i do.

sean if you dont want that crab but have refrozen it then ill probs buy some off you at the right price lol speak with you 2night about it anyway

I had to refreeze everything in the freezer as my wheelie bin doesn't get emptied till thursday so you can imagine the smell lol. I'll fetch some down coco and you can judge for yourself mate.

of course some idiot might also realise they've been ripped off & pay you a visit in the small hours!.

That statement is a disgrace. When people complain about Rip-off Britain I wonder why?

We've just had a nigh on 24 hr power cut in East Herrington - lads outside refixing the work they didn't do properly last time said we'd be up for £50 compo from the leccky board for out ruined in the freezer, anything else has to be claimed on household insurance - what's the craic with that like
