Wood chips for smokers

We have looked all over Whitley Bay, including Tesco, Sainsbury and Morrisons, but all we can find is charcoal briquettes.

Can anyone advise where to find wood chips please?

Sure I got some smoker wood chips from Billy's Tackle (North Shields) years back.

Go to your local joiners shop or machinist and get some oak shavings a bag will last u ages and there most likely for nowt !

sawdust is better than woodchips in a small smoker. Potential for chips to flame up in the smoker rather than smoulder. a bag of sawdust lasts years. I bought a 2kilo bag of mixed ok and juniper about 10 years ago and haven't scratched the surface. a teaspoon full is about all you need. I can decant some into a small bag if you want and bring it intot he shop in town if you wanna drop by and grab some

That would be great thanks Mark. I think we need a wee bit of advice, as all we have smoked in our lives is cigarettes!
