Read scottm catch report, and his wormy fishy, and thought I'd have a snoop about, I've often wondered what the story is with the worms in the gut cavity, especially mackeral in summer. Fish we get up the west coast of scotland very rarely have any, but down here they nearly all seem to

Round Worms in Fish

apparently they originate in seal/dolphin poo!

which seems even odder as there are stacks more seals and dolphins up there as there are down here

Mark thanks for that.
It says freezing kills any worms which may be present so i will be ok as the few fish i catch and take home are frozen straight way.

One thing which i find odd is when i gut some whitey. The liver is pockled with small holes. Is this down to worms ?.I have never seen any.

I have also heard lads complaining on the pier of fish riddled with worm. Often seen around the gills.?
I have seen flatties with parasites crawling over their bodies.Small red things.

Cheers Mick
