Well today i have put on my boat an 80lb class rod and a large reel with 100lb line and straps on along with 2 wire traces with size 14/0 hooks.

After reading the many reports of sharks spotted around our waters i know i would just kick myself if i never had the gear to have a go for one if in the 1000-1 chance that one came calling around the boat when out wrecking.

Cant see me ever posting a shark catch report but maybe just maybe i will get the chance to see one and have the gear to try for one rather than just watch it swim around for abit then report it when i get back.

You never know whats swimming around the wrecks you are fishing on, i bet with a little concerted effort ie dropping the anchor in front of the wreck or on a really lumpy ground edge and dropping a bag of macky frames & bits out, you WILL see a shark ( porgie ) poke its head out and have a sniff, after all its the same water as whitby, and weve had a few there. This is probably the best time of year to have a go, as they may possibly be just about to follow the maccy shoals north to their winter grounds ( top of scotland )
