Gotta century kompressor ss for rough ground which I like very much, I'm looking for a good quality second rod, for clean to mixed ground what do you guys use or recommend

I've got one of the anyfish anywhere tournament match rods and can,t really fault it. Casts well, has good bite indication and will handle anyfish you are likely to get in these waters

Ive been looking at usual suspects like century, zziplex etc never thought of the AFAW tournament match might have a look at one of these, cheers lads

at the moment my favourite rod for clean to mixed ground is a sk4 ... the 13'' 6 one ..great to cast all styles and excellent bite detection..
cheers
Paul

Shimano 130MPT - ive had nearly every zippy there is over the past 3 year... but none compire to this featherweight casting / fishing machine for off the ground or hatriss casting.

If it had a zippy label on it, people would take it to bed and put parts of their anatomy up it and say its the best rod ever!!

only other rod ive had come close is the Dymic LT14 - one of the finest fishing rods there is.

I aint tried a AFAW tourny match... but if the Tourny Rock is anything to go by, it will be a winer as well. :o)

hi geordie, been fancying one of them shimano rods myself had a chance of one the other week 14ft model 160 quid but did,nt bother.

i have the afaw tournament match and tournament rock both very nice may sell the match not sure.

hows the harrison going have you still got there are some new models supposed to be hopefully going into production march sometime. p3 a bit heavy for my liking a bit ungainly and recovery too fast , good point it is very slim nice rod but not quite my cup of tea

the new q3 are supposed to be same power but lighter probaly a tadge softer.

ps what type of off the ground cast you use tucked under rod tip or 90 degrees to tip sort of south african

stick with century best rods going, all these zippy and greys things don't have a patch on them, go the tip tornado match mate :)

In response to john/r post my casting style is usually under the tip
baring in mind I've just started fishing this winter season, at this moment my order of preference is the tip tornado or afaw match followed by the primo shimano 130mpt and the sk4 it's my birthday next week so I've got a few days to think about it, thanks for the advice lads much appreciated

hi i used to think similar to you about zziplex but now i am more open minded.

the fact is we have a lot of good rods available from a variety of rod manufacturers with various prices

spoilt for choice is what comes to my mind.

Just use the rod you have for all types of fishing, it will more than handle it. As for bite detection in rods, personally I do not think it has anything to do with rod you are using, I think the monofilament that is in use today has improved that much that it is the line that gives the bite detection.

i think ur right mate, am just going from experience and that is zziplex go like puddins and greys snap but in all fairness it is down to personal preference so stick to what u kno, but i hav never seen or had a century rod go wrong
