I wouldnt go as far as saying lightyears ahead, I prefer my harrison over my zziplex
There is no doubt zziplex has a sort of cult following.
But top rods from century conoflex and others are
Very very nice bits of kit.
Use what u feel comfortable with at the end of the day
The fish don't no if your using a 400 quid rod or a 40
Quid rod.
was thinking of buying another profile aswell
No but the top end stuff should last as long as you need it to, saying that I have snapped 2 zziplexs in the last 3 month one a profile and one a bullet.
For yrs and yrs the most prodominent rod on the casting circuit casting comps uksf events has been the zziplex range, breakages and I used to do the casting scene since the early eighties and travelled around and breakages well I havnt seen one zzipie break but I know some have.
Now there must be a reason why most use zziplex rods at these events, to much of a coincidence that they are widely used.
I have already said I use other manufactures why I dont realy know but always go back to zziplex at this moment in time I would like a m427 su gt if there was one.
One could say abu reels has had a cult following over the yrs or has it .
There is no such thing as a cult following wth rods its just ones preferences I have a m8 who swears by conoflex but after snapping a conoflex rakata I wont use them again but thats me.
Possibly a lot of rods snap on account of bad casting trying to pendulum but when you buy a rod does it say which way you have to use it .
used to snap rods for fun but since a change of technique and basic common sense I haven't had a problem. Its when you start putting power in when the lead is inside the tip ie line and rod angle is less than 90deg you up the chance of breakage. The high inertia is a classic rod snapper. As for reliability Zziplex all the way followed by afaw then century. Personally not a century fan after a number of breakages and bad cust service. Saying that the autoclaved rods are much more reliable. Heard of a few too many v curve centurys and harrisons to take a chance on them.
That's built though mate this is a price for blank only
Yes and century build is pants.plus the rings they use are £40 a set not £80 that century reckon. But you do get jap shrink and a reducer worth a fiver and a rod scratching bag of century.
