i used to think the same about amount of zzipys out but now i believe each one is diff for diff reasons some older rods wth lg tips now equal sect and new materials coming in all the time
enabling longer lighter stronger rods.

imho zziplex rods and his rods are light yrs ahead of everything else ,i do use diff manufactures from time to time but keep going back to zziplex .

anyway just my opion on zziplex models everyone to there own.

There isnt too many zippys, there's 1 to cover every situation but most of them will handle anything thrown at em.
If ya paid £170 for a bullet 25 year ago and its still in good condition it'll still be worth £170 today. What other rods are???
Ya get what ya pay for, simple as that. No one forces anyone to buy em.

If a was a field tournament caster I wouldn't look at the price I would just buy, if it would give me more distance. I bought a second hand leeda ultra power for my recent trip to Scotland to use and abuse to save my good rods getting battered. Bit over gunned but it put the bait out and the fish didn't mind what a used.

Had a few zziplexs not talking the old stuff these were the latest billed mixed to heavy ground black blanks un-ground brand new. But I think there are alot of dodgey zippys about which also affect the name and peoples opinions. Eg I've seen ground green blanks teamed up with un-ground blank tips. It's a m427 butt with zeteque txl tip and all that. If you don't know what your looking or your not getting the rod from a genuine person its a mine field. Where the metal band century stuff seems pretty consistent regardless second hand or not.

Hence why a feel your concern regarding New prices it's piece of mind with zziplex buying new.

There is no doubt zziplex has a sort of cult following.

But top rods from century conoflex and others are
Very very nice bits of kit.

Use what u feel comfortable with at the end of the day
The fish don't no if your using a 400 quid rod or a 40
Quid rod.

No but the top end stuff should last as long as you need it to, saying that I have snapped 2 zziplexs in the last 3 month one a profile and one a bullet.

For yrs and yrs the most prodominent rod on the casting circuit casting comps uksf events has been the zziplex range, breakages and I used to do the casting scene since the early eighties and travelled around and breakages well I havnt seen one zzipie break but I know some have.
Now there must be a reason why most use zziplex rods at these events, to much of a coincidence that they are widely used.
I have already said I use other manufactures why I dont realy know but always go back to zziplex at this moment in time I would like a m427 su gt if there was one.
One could say abu reels has had a cult following over the yrs or has it .
There is no such thing as a cult following wth rods its just ones preferences I have a m8 who swears by conoflex but after snapping a conoflex rakata I wont use them again but thats me.
Possibly a lot of rods snap on account of bad casting trying to pendulum but when you buy a rod does it say which way you have to use it .

used to snap rods for fun but since a change of technique and basic common sense I haven't had a problem. Its when you start putting power in when the lead is inside the tip ie line and rod angle is less than 90deg you up the chance of breakage. The high inertia is a classic rod snapper. As for reliability Zziplex all the way followed by afaw then century. Personally not a century fan after a number of breakages and bad cust service. Saying that the autoclaved rods are much more reliable. Heard of a few too many v curve centurys and harrisons to take a chance on them.

Agree and defiantly agree with bad casters snap rods.

i have cast over 220 yards high inertia with zziplex no bother, but have snapped rods of other makes doing the same cast ,zzipex are the most reliable rod on the market imho

After using other rods, century's,conoflexes,I still go back to my trusty zziplexes, just can't fault them, they do the bizz for me.
I do have,an use a afaw tourney rock, that I do like, but the zzippy qlty in the blank n build is deffo of a higher qlty/std.But I think it all comes dwn to the fact that u get wot u pay for:cool:

That's built though mate this is a price for blank only

Yes and century build is pants.plus the rings they use are £40 a set not £80 that century reckon. But you do get jap shrink and a reducer worth a fiver and a rod scratching bag of century.
