Shore fishing has died a rather premature death so it seems so already my thoughts and dreams are looking into the future...

26th of April last year was the start of Slinkys season

When's the earliest people have ever started?

Dont really stop

But if your talking about the summer/spring time then its rough ground and odd wreck from the Middle of March depending on weather, if water clear then hit wrecks more often.

Used to fish up Craster alot early season from the boats close in or witht he JFK or Dolly close in on rough ground marks and odd wrecks...to be honest apart from the odd trip no great memorys stand out until mid-May.

Caught mackerel from the boat last year 2nd of May and from the shore 28th.
1st productive wreck trip was on the 17th of April last year.

Alan Skinner had 47 fish the other week best 9lb, cod to 19lb have been taken from boats at Whitby. Mind anglers are saying it is rather cold out there.

Yer spoke to Alan the other day he said he was going to give it a bash and i know he has done great other years in Jan/Feb..if they out there he can find them.

Aye but as alan said .... it`s a bit cold out there

look forward to mid-end march .... (or maybe it's just that thats when we pay the yearly marina fees so feel we have to justify it more :) :) :) )

:) aye rich probs be out for a run if the weather ever eases ......
been doing a fair bit of maintainence last few weeks
new ropes, fenders, etc engine service, wood teaked, new dynon 3000 on reels, reels oiled and greased, rods cleaned and checked for ring damage lots of new things to try in the way of lures loadsa weights cast........ it just goes on :)

Yer same for me, just abit unsure about taking her out on my todd as i done so much work both electrics and engine after the ice issue that i am abit uneasy but she needs a sea trial to make sure everything is working as it should.

Your right mind its endless work lol....New cooling pipes, new impela, new water unit, fitted a cooker, fitted a flow monitor, back up radio hand held, new fenders on order and need some new ropes for front as well as the normal, change of oil, fuel fitler, fan belt etc lol

Keeps me busy on the weekends lol

Are you turning into a big southern jessie/
The cold dos'nt bother the hard lads of the north east. lol

Lol well i know what he means, i tried to get out last friday and all the sea water engine cooling pipes had frozen and when i started the engine up on tick over it damaged the impela and pipes...next time i wont be out unless its 4 or 5 above freezing to make sure :)

Rich, I just fitted new ropes and decided to splice all the loops myself :) bit difficult to get started but after the first couple it`s a doddle ....... :) :) don`t stand too close to slinky else your fingers will be spliced into a perfect loop ............ every piece of rope is loop or end spliced right down to fender hangers and tie ups :) :) :)

Ow quick question are the fenders for our size boats 24" long ones? range from 18" upto 34"..i am on about the long ones. few on ebay am looking at getting as 2 of mine wont stay up long as valve leaking as they old.

Just back from Scotland and the 90 MPH winds make it REAL cold lol , great to see so much preparation going on .....

P.S. Nice pic there Ritchie ................... might be worth reconsidering that one mind you :o

get some tyres man, great for winding the yotties up

or fill the fenders with expanding foam, keeps em up permanently, and just as 'fendery'
