A certain top South coast Match angler

Was talking to my cousin yesterday about his son being in a feature in the Sea Angler with a Tuna (I think) caught in Gran Canaria. In the same feature, the author (see title) is seen with a big fish. My cousin tells me that everyone was allocated a rod, and my cousin was watching his rod. All of a sudden a fish was on, on his rod. Before he could move, the feature writer had grabbed my cousins rod, and proceeded to battle the fish, land it and have his pic taken!!

Understandably, my cousin was less than chuffed, and told him so. He told me that the writer just appeared snobby and distanced himself from everyone like \'I\'m better than you\' sort of thing.

SAD.

sad in deed bad when top angler has to grab someone elses glory but a few so called top anglers do .heard one got loads of gear as sponsership from angling shop won the match but did not even mention the shop involved,,,, hasten to say the shop didnt sponsor him again.

Afriend of mine was fishing a carp lake when a famous TV angler was making a programme. When ever anyone on the lake hooked a fish he would take the rod from them and play it on camera as if he had hooked it. Not very truthful or realistic telly.

Wouldn\'t a short sharp \"fuck off\" not have worked.

If not threaten to chuck the fucker in.

That\'s extreme arrogance.

I offered to do that to one of the lads from work a few year ago.

I was getting hammered about 8 to 0.

He offered me his fishing rod when he next got a bite.

I offered him free swimming lessons ;)

davey
he,d have distanced him self from the boat if he,d done that to my youngun.
boat trips in gran canaria dont come cheap anyway so for some muppet to do that is not on. :(

Both Mags a crap in my opinion, very little realistic features in either of them, full of adverts and boring tackle reviews, normally read mine in Asda

Alan,
I agree with your sentiments......BUT......would your editor let you \"name & shame\" in your column on the basis of the above information ???

I very much doubt it.

Websites are in the same legal postion as the press when it comes to such matters

very similar to tony,s kirrages cod video where they couldn,t catch one at all but brought one they had caught the night before and tried to let on they caught it that night, very poor effort as the fish never kicked once and lay there like a bag of spuds.it shocks me the lengths some people go to to look good for a camera including stuns like this.

Thats why I didn\'t name the angler Tony.

For those who get the Sea Angler, you\'ll know who it is, an England international for many a year who got beat by Alec Harvey earlier in the year on his own patch. ;)

As it was early in the trip, my cousin told him in no uncertain terms that if he tried it again, he\'d be swimming with the tuna!

Your right Tony to an extent, i have made comments on certain aspects in my columns and magazine articles which have raised a few hackles, but they have passed the sensor. Only rarely are they toned down. With an eye witness to an event there should be no problem, you are simply reporting on an actual incident. You are not just making something up or passing on second hand information.

Id Guess he was incredibly ugly in a spectaled toothy kind of way ;)
I worked with a lad who visited a certain bearded giggly TV anglers shop in Norfolk, and bought his son a book, J**n W***S**s fishing, or sumat., then the bstd asked for £2.50 extra for an autograph.
He was told in nee uncertain terms to keep it.

Cheers Davy....Yep, I appreciated the way you\'d worded your post.

Alan.....not nit-picking.....BUT.....what was reported on here wasn\'t reported by an \"eye witness\".............\"Was talking to my cousin yesterday about his son being in a feature in the Sea Angler with a Tuna (I think) caught in Gran Canaria. In the same feature, the author (see title) is seen with a big fish. My cousin tells me that...........\"

Without wanting to denegrade Davys\' cousin......
What \"actual incident\"?.....I didn\'t see it and nor did Davy, for that matter. Therefore, the detail provided IS \"second hand information\".

nanny stateism. you seen the new eleccy reg\'s??

We the general public are now not deemed sensible enough to touch electrical wiring. you can change a light switch face unit or plug socket face unit...but not in a bathroom or kitchen Eh?? whats the difference.

we cannot so much as touch a bit of wiring

only NIC registered installers can do that, and it now costs a grand to be registered!
