Site Owner
Having spent 8 hours a day for 6 years (and large numbers of hours through the night) I know just how time consuming, wearing and frustrating managing a website can be.
When I asked TC to take over the role as administrator to NESA I didn\'t really know him, in fact I don\'t think we had ever met. However there was just something about Tony that I felt made him the ideal replacement. His commitment to NESA, his humour and the obvious fact that he was extemely well liked by virtually everyone on the forums made him, in my eyes, the perfect replacement. Elton whole heartedly agreed (I had already given up ownership of NESA by then).
From the offset it was clear the descision was right - Tony launched himself in headlong bringing fresh ideas to the site that only new blood could have done.
He gave up his own personal time to organise events, take pictures of the shoreline so others could see the sea conditions and basically made NESA an almost full time job.
During one short spell TC had had enough - mainly thruogh the amount of grief he was having to sort out for other people and which was really nothing to do with him, but life as a webmaster/admin/moderator throws these things at you simply because you are the figure head.
But a quick call to let him know the depth of feeling about him leaving thankfully kept him going.
It\'s a tough old life being at the beck and call of every visitor to a website, it\'s your role I guess and Tony took to it like a duck in water.
I am sure me posting here will shock most people who remember the problems caused over the RNLI fund and my badly written post at the time and a measure of Tonys\' character was the fact we sorted our differences amicably (I think) whether or not he understood/believed my explanations regarding my post.
I have to say that watching TC run the site took me back to my early days with NESA and reminded me of the enjoyment/pleasure I got from owning what has turned out to be almost the benchmark from which all UK sea angling sites are measured.
Finally I would like just to say that TC resigning from role as NESAs\' captain is another milestone in NESA\'s history, though in my humble opinion a milestone to soon . He will be most definately missed by everyone here (including me who no longer participates on NESA). He became the backbone and lifeblood of NESA over his period \"in office\". He did the job admirably, he had vision as to NESA\'s future, He was a friend, guide and inspiration to ALL who visit NESA.
I won\'t ask him to reconsider again (Not my role to do that anyway) but I do hope he continues to be a devoted NESA member and to whoever takes up the mantle of NESA administrator has a very hard act to follow.
Thanks TC - you have been an inspiration to not only NESA but to UK sea angling sites in general.
