looks like it has been living on a healthy diet of the good old pipefish!

Still a good fish to catch regardless!

Could be Hagfish damage, or a seal bite or even something sinister, cant wait for the report. wonder if DEFRA look on this site.:confused:
 
if that was done by a hagfish i wouldnt like to see the size of it, that ulcer was the size of my hand, the ones on the ther side where worse and there where more on the head, although not as bad. It actually looked as if something had gone right through it.
 
Viral Haemorrhagic Septicaemia Virus (VHSV)...........possibly.........especially, as it would seem, that there were a number of such "ulcers" on the fish - I dare say that Doc could hazzard a more informed guess.
