All i.know is it was father and son fishing beckets and the dad tryed to cross the stream and got washed in, its a lethal spot as a few weeks back i was nearly washed in at the same place..

believe there was an incident there last year or the year before as well, condolences to his family

Shocking again, as posted above it is everytime a big sea on something happens, we do fsh some stupid locations in the hunt for big fish, piers that are awash, top of cliffs that are breaking away, jettys, rock outlets, pipes etc, we really need to start being safer.

A big clamp down on the piers will come from this in our area i bet, fines, police involved the lot now may even lose Roker as a fishing location not to mention someone now has to spend xmas in a leg cast.

Hope everyone is as well as can be and it makes others think abit more beofre risking it.

Unfortunately not quite right mate One lad taken from the Sea by winch man from Sea King and another male lifted from the beach by Police Helicopter. With respect to the family's concerned its all I can say at this time. I was there !!

So sad to hear of this tragic news and u get idiots playing hoax calls like last night on Tynemouth pier reporting ppl jumping off the pier wich wasted the time ov the police and rescue team when they could of been needed else where in a real emergency!thoughts go out to all family's invoked god bless.
