Annual Trip to Coldingham

Hi guys. Back from our annual trip up north. First time I've fished since the NvS comp in February so dead keen to get a line wet. Weather was OK considering the summer we've had. Could itemise the trip but it sort of morphs into a recurring report - lots of fish: most of them wrasse: most of them small. Spoke to Neil Turnbull on PSF and he confirms that even in the yak they're only catching small fish off Eyemouth and Coldingham. Here's some piccies. I hope the guy who left all the rubbish at Yellow Craig last Tuesday or Wednesday isn't off here. I cleared up after you!!

Haven't really got a reason for the lack of decent fish. Spoke to one or two divers and they confirmed the proliferation of wrasse and lack of codling. Hope you chaps have more luck before the summer's out.

great report and pics Dave, nice to see you still got a basket and the scarborough reel, some lovely fish there.Well done

Very nice sessions by the look of it David - lovely wrasse too (got a bit of a soft spot for them myself) but a shame about the lack of codling - they do seem a bit few & far between right now :(

Cheers, Gary :)

Nice report and pics David, In the first pic, is that you getting all mod with the carbon & 7000 ?. :D At least you and fishfinder managed a bit of sport for your endeavours at mountaineering. Is your regular rod a Milbro marine? Could you tell us where you aquired the creels? Loads of questions Dave, but you must be used to it now. :)

You're a cheeky get.......just because you scratched a few flatties in the comp.....the first pic is Old Rod....10 years older than me and considerably lighter in fishes caught lol. The basket was made by a Shropshire semi sighted guy at a cost of about £40 - can provide more information if required. Coincidentaly spoke to him last week at the Newport Agricultural Show. Rods rod is a Greys something or other, no idea about the reel. Mountaineering wise it was quite quiet...not sure my knees agree. They're looking forward to 2 weeks lying on the beach rather than fishing from them.

ya havent tryed enough man lol a bet theres cod all ower there in deeper areas am gonna try in a week or 2 but all fish will be returned for the next man that comes by

Me cheeky, Scratched What. Anyway Dave, iv'e only been out twice since the N v S comp. say no more. I'm after a custom built creel,so a bit info would be a great help. cheers.:)
BTW Glucosomine sulphate 1500 mg daily works for my knees :D

At least you got amongst the fish though, i fished a mark over the golf course side about a month ago and managed a couple of small codling but did get a nice wrasse bang on 3lb, until the divers came along and spoilt it.
