Just spent a week at the mull (stopping at Sandhead) with the wife and kids and managed a few trips out.
First morning, I ventured out south of Sandhead with the plug to see what I could get. There wasn't a breath of wind......
Saw a few fish on the surface, and one massive swirl of a tail, but no takes.
Next trip was to one of my favourite marks south of Port Logan. Fishing the ebb, I was soon into mackeral on spun sandeel. Used one in strips and had 3 Pollack on the float to 4lb (sorry no pics - deleted them by mistake
) This is the view south. I've fished there and its a tw** of a hike...
My next trip was another bass session. Unfortunately, the breeze had got up in luce bay the previous day, so the inshore grounds were heavily coloured. I gave it an hour then gave up.
The flat rock area was the next venue the following morning (Thursday). Again, an ebbing tide with plenty of mackerel. I tried for Pollack with spun sandeel, floatfished mackerel and sandeel and never got one. What I did get on floatfished sandeel was this....
A baby conger! has anyone ever had one on the float??
One thing about this place is the amount of sh*** left behind by anglers, absolutely disgusting. By this time, the weather had taken a turn for the worst - the sunny MOG....
Friday was a family day, so never got out which was a shame as there wasn't a breath of wind - a gorgeous evening.....
When I woke up this morning, and looked out of the window I couldn't believe my eyes. Torrential rain with gale force winds, Luce bay was a mass of white horses.
All in all a great holiday though, I just can't get enough of the place.
