No i\'m not pi$$ed be fore you ask(Powerstorm) Iwas fishing Blyth Harbour on Mon night & caught 3 cod, kept 2 and returned 1... On gutting the said 2 (I always clean the fish and return the leftovers, a sort of recycle thing, hopefully the guts are eaten by smaller fishthat grow or are eaten by crabs that peel ect ) the stomach of the two fish were bursting with shrimps & small flatties, now i thought use the contents for bait, so I did,, didn\'t catch anything on them, any reasons why? could the fish possably detect that the bait had been in another fishes stomach and reject it as dodgey? I dont know, It was what the two cod had been feeding on, but as soon as I went back to lug I caught another one any Ideas or should have I been pi$$ed before posting this one,at least I would have had an excuse Cheers Tich :hallucine:

I caught a codling and some worm dropped out of its mouth, straight on the hook resulting in a 5 1/2 pound codling. Have tried small sand eels that have just been eaten and nothing.
Same old story Tich right time right place and anything will work.

Jim.

Nowt daft about asking Questions - its the daft answers you get back :D :D
I have had Codling Stuffed with hard back crab, but never heard of anyone catching fish on them or even trying to ;)

I think with crabs and fish, its all down to movement, the cod can \'detect\' the movement of the live flatties/crabs in the murk, but if you fish them dead, no movement. As for worms, they can \'smell\' them more than anything else.

My theory anyway
:D

so they smell it johnny?!?!?! then they decide whether it smells like a kebab after a night out, or a pair of sweaty tights!!!

LMFAO @ davy
you\'ll be using tights next ;)
six inches off the end leg on a 6/0 pennel, and a few turns of thread. ;)

heard a kebab is good too .....BUT......you have to have the garlic and chilli on and the onions to tip it off.

Davy i totally agree with you cod go for movement and smell thats why you use perks (Rippers), and smellybaits when fishing on a boat :D

seen a coalie caught on pork sausage ;)

my pal and i have this debate everytime we fish ,he uses nowt but squid saying if the fish are hungry theyl eat

this dont seem to be the case ,youve got to get the fish intereted first either by movement or smell or something thats really visual ,ive caught whiting using whiting but most the cod (all 3 of them ) have fell to rag or lug combined with maccy or squid, and believe me ive tried allsorts from prawns, smoked salmon to made up concoctions stuffed into squid,i think you might get away with it after a good blow but not while the fish are hunting as apposed to scavenging ;)

Cheers Dave for the first reply,I never thought about movement\"just about smell,, I think You have hit the nail on the head, dont think I\'ll be using old fish gutings again. Thanks for your reply... Cheers Tich

I wish sometimes we could just sometimes stick to the thread>> I love a joke but all I was after was an answer ,Im not into kebab fishing. with or without garlic/ im not known as a dull/ twat/boring /Ba$tard,,, but at times I wish we could keep it \"\" in or on line\"\" If thats not to much, thers to much chat not asociated with the thread going on between the lines, a wee quick one here & there is ok, but when some of it becomes \"\"hijacked\"\" it\'s a little boaring ... sorry rant over ... cheers Tich :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: :casstet:
