just back from a wet and windy west coast. text book stuff. Never had as good a week, all the usual spot far exceeded expectations.

had a last blast this morning spinning from the rocks and caught mackeral! Whats gannin on, its nigh on november

the pollock fishing was insane, last 2 hours before high water, from the old lighthouse pier was ballistic pollock or coalie every cast, and although the little uns were there, the average sized fish was a lot bigger than usual, most of em over a pound, got a personal best from the their of just over five pounds, but the bairn bless, her did it again, just after my big un, she\'s telling me I think its snagged, I was busy with another fish so told her to hang on, its free now she says..., oh no it isn\'t, oh yes it is etc...the end result:

9 and a half pounds... kids, what can you do with em. she did well though on a little lite weight spinning rod Nearly cacked my self when I was un-hooking it for her, it spat out a coalie about 8\" long...that was still alive! Holl nursed it back to life in rock pool,
read before we went that half a sand eel wrapped in squid is good for rays, tried it from the pier in kilchoan...caught one cuckoo and 2 thornbacks, also had dabs and flounders from there as well.

found another cracking sport at the end of the peninsula whcih chucked up loads of little codling best nicely pan sized, had a couple of wrasse from their a well,

caught fish everywhere I went, everytime, so can\'t fault that, but the weather was mental - F8, 9 and the odd 10 most of the week. took a load of frozen peeler, but brought it back as the rock pools were lifting with them, which the kids kept me ready supplied with.

tried the fly rod from the rocks, that was a laugh, wind so strong as I brought the but up to cat the tip just stayed put bent in half - did get onto the rivers for a day though ;)

lost count of the pollack & coalies during the week, well into the hundreds, but had dabs, flounder, cuckoo and thornback rays, codling wrasse, the dreaded doggies a rockling and mackeral

my stomach had mussels, pollack, codling crab, lobster langoustines sea trout and mackeral - not neccessarily in that order or at the same time

there were so many fish from the old light house pier I told my mate to stick a string of 4 daylights on to see what happened

4 hooks = 4 pollack, all around the pound mark, which kept hime enteredtained on fairly lighweight rod

Every year your reports from Ardnamurchan get better and better Mark. Pleased you had another goodun.
Say well done to Holly. That picture is worth, well what can you say I don\'t know. CLASS.

Jim.

Well same from me Mark .ditto ditto ..brilliant ,I\'m well impressed ,the bairn did well eh! I\'ve not fished up that way before ,however ....Jim do you fancy a look up lol.

Steve mate as I have said to mark a couple of times before, I would LOVE to give it a try. It is too far for just a day though mate.

Just looked at that picture again I think I hate her now lol as that is bigger than my best shore fish lol. I watched Paul (Hiram) struggle with an eight pounder of the same species and then get snapped by a better one when we fished together and I can still hear him swearing at that fish lol. It makes me apreciate that picture so much more.
WELL DONE HOLLY.

Jim.

Mark,
Is Holly available for the South of the Tyne Team........No problems about her not being a NESA member........I\'ll register her myself :exclam: :exclam:

Lol Tony, register her, I will pick her up and drop her back off mate.
I think it would probably kill the comp though, as those northern girls would be dropping out like flies.

Jim.

6 to 7 hour drive but worth it. There\'s plenty of cheap self catering accomodation this time of year, thinking of going back up at crimbo!

the one day I didn\'t fish, was a killer for me. went to sanna bay, where there was bigger surf than I\'ve ever seen there. on the rocks each end of the little beach, were a couple of guys spinning, casting out to the third and 4th wave.....and catching bass!, was hard not to run back for a rod
