Is it straight forward?
Wots the method ?
Do they come in diff bores -lenghts etc?
Any info will be much app............. ;)

Hiya bert ,

I\'ve got an alvey type (never used it for years like) and it only really worked on blacks . Find the big casts (not blow casts with the holes) which is better on big tides at the LW mark , set the pump over the cast and let the tube go in 6\" only and lift the handle slowly to build up the suction . I put fairy liquid on the piston seals which improved the sucking power . It\'s best when the worm is at the top of it\'s burrow and timing is everything . I did ok in west wales (Pendine and Saundersfoot and also at Donna Nook in Lincolnshire )

Dont know of any beds up north though???

Bait pumps....

In my opinion, the worst ones of mine are after a few pints of guiness and a chicken dupiaza. That said, jimmy and steve may argue that Stella and Steak and ale Pie from the Ship Inn produced the worst ones.

I await judgement.
;)

Cheers Dave and Alan :D

LOL , was a lot younger and fitter then Bert , its hard work mind before you kick off on it :P If you do try it , look for razor fish water spurts on big tides ( sometimes near black lug beds ) and squirt some salt/water solution down the hole and out they come like magic , no kids !

Cheers Dave ,ive seen that method of collecting razors on a Rick Stein show once it looks a doddle once you know what your looking for :D
Ive never actually seen anyone pumping lug around here but it dont mean that it dont work,,Dave did you say that it dont work on blow lug??????Do you have to pump the lug when the casts are in water?
cheers bert

Bert let me know when you want it and we will sort something out, anybody you know going to the Amble i could give it to them there.

Hi Bert,

It only worked the odd time on blow lug for me , I\'ve heard of it working but never seen it . On the black lug it\'s more of an art than a science . I waited until the water was coming in and followed it up but sometimes did better just as it was leaving the cast . Oddly , the wind direction made a big difference on Pendine as well for some reason ???

Cheers Dave looks like i`m going to give it a go ;)
Much appreciated Alan are you at the check presentation at the Royal Quays ? if not then i will have a word with Keith as he`s local
Another good result Cheers

i bought myself the new alvey on saturday with pumping a few blacks in mind went down the yellowtail beds i usually go to just to practice and after a few goes got a couple of big yellowtails, yhe ones that u wouldnt dare go for with a fork cos the water will fill it in in a second. i was pulling the tails off (ooh err) most of them tho. when i came home i found this website www.wirralseafishing.com,which shed a bit of lite on the techniqe. by the way i must have looked like a bit of a t**t. cos everyone else was breaking there backs with a spade.

if not at presentation, will take it to the Amble just in case i dont get to the north walkover, could be bumped off by a southerner by then.

I use a home made one with a smaller bore. Made from 15mm copper pipe. Like Dave, I use fairy liquid as a lubricant. Works pretty good up at Beadnell.
