thanks mate, fished blyth pier today and the beach when it got dark, had a big granny fish first chuck, was a bit of a laugh with two fellas on the pier, a comerant also managed to fly into my line and take itself out, then one of the 2 blokes on the end with me had a cracking bite, turned out to be a comerant tangeld in his line! managed to free itself next to the pier(looked like it put up a good scrap!) well back to the fish,,,, first cast big granny( amusing) a few casts seen a few small whiting landed(during daylight) then one of the blokes managed a few small codling(well done pal was better than nothing!) a storm was brewing and the calm westerley wind soon changed to a full on north/ north easterly blow( made a couple of lads move down to the pier from lynemouth). not alot happening for a while as the tide was dropping but i managed to bag an alright flattie, plaice i think(it had orange spots but im not sure if flounder do aswell?). eventualy as darkness fell my hands became wet and numb so i moved onto the beach and warmed my hands up a bit before fishing near the pipe, didnt manage anything on the beach(sea was too flat) but the flattie i managed to catch on the pier was a treat when i got home,,, oven baked it with lemon juice and threw in a couple of bay leaves. all in all not the worst of days, got me out of the house after christmas with some new waders and seat box.i was getting a bit bored watching peoples dvd's knowing that i had some new kit to try out. all the best for the new year everyone, hope we all get some good fish in the new year! tra
