can any1 remember the last spell of westerlies we had it seems for weeks now it has been north, northeast, east, south'southeast we'd be great full of these in the winter but as normal we want west and it comes east desperate to get out and try my boat 4 first time this year

Same here, we have'nt been out this year yet. Got the boat all shiney aswell.
Recon their is gonna be a good 3 months of light westerlies on their way. lol

Trying to swap being on call this weekend as the forcast is looking ok.

If I have to work expect the sea to be like a mirror.

winter 2004 I think Norman, I can remember when I could pick and choose when I went out in my boat, you could count on the sea being calm in the summer. Not now.

Have booked light sou' westerlies from July 20th for a week. Usually works so get your boats sorted for then.

If not I have also booked an alcoholic back up plan lol.

Apparently it's all down to the jet stream. According to forecasters "The summer will have a Southerly tracking jet with Northern blocking and although drier, there should be more incursions of cooler northerlies" !. Could be a repeat of last years summer. Also, do you notice how the Northerlies seem to correspond with the weekend.

only during the summer in the winter you get westerlies at weekends, somebody up there is having a great laugh at our expense

The way the weather is now, the simple answer is to plan any 7 days in july or August and you are bound to get at least 1 of them with a westerly.
