i think ling king has clingon down to a tee , i know someone just like that hangs around waiting for freebees as he wont spend a penny .

Personally I feel this thread should have been stopped a long time ago!
The racist comments and character assissantion are dreadful and ultimately damaging...the forum administrators should bring it to an end.
Some of the comments are hurtful and outrageous! Tackle shops should be supported not publically humiliated.
There'd be a far bigger outcry if there were none locally.
Admin and mods, get your act together and end this senseless thread!

I disagree with you. If there had been any racism in this thread I'm sure it would have been halted quickly.

The thread was started saying I'd got some gear from a shop I hardly use, hence 'canny shop'. I use many shops in the area for various items of tackle and they all have their merits and I understand that every shop can't stock all brands and associated products. OK, it's got a bit heated at times but, that's life jim!

Sorry mate...that's not life! Have an opinion yes but some remarks are dreadful...
At least the tackle dealer(s) in question will still be providing a service to anglers long after this site has gone...as it seems to have lost a little credibility don't you think?
The names Paul by the way...not Jim ;-)
I noticed you avoided the racism question...heyho hopefully the thread will be cleaned up or closed up...
Night all, I'm off to the tackle shop in the morning to pick up my "regular" order of bait...just the 180 mile round trip! Thank God for tackle shops...

Good luck on your fishing session Paul. sincerely.

I can honestly say my experience with tackle shops have all been pleasant, be it Rutherford's, Fishing Republic or Fisherman's Locker. No problems with bait, and felt welcome in all three shops.

I loved Angler's Choice before they closed, as they weighed the rag in front of you and you could see what you were buying.

Whether you're a "clingon" regular or an occasional customer, I say hats off to you for supporting local tackle shops.

Here we go, Mr fenech on his high horse ! It's a discussion and people are entitled to thier opinion some of which people will agree with and others won't, I'm afraid that is just life mate. Not everything is sugar coated to suit everyone in this world so there's no need to go all P.C. !
We get enough of that bollocks rammed down our throats off m.p's every day and your no m.p mate.

Well, didn't start that post very well did you...? Contradictory or what? So everyones entitled to an opinion? Apart from me according to you...[/QUOTE

Ok I stand corrected, I was trying to make a point that everyone has an opinion whether it be good or bad.
Truce ?

nice of him to sponsor the sunderland council comp over this weekend too with prizes ;)

Is this correct as I was at both comps and the guy on the stage announced that the council sponsored the weekend and Andy just supplied the prizes

Andy supplied the prizes for our open at trade prices, then donated, (sponsored) the junior prize. He did this for us for 16 years. In my opinion he's a fair guy.:)
I know there has been a lot of opinions on tackle shops keeping bait, etc, back for regulars, but is'nt this a way of life. We all work for a living and whatever we do, if you have worked overtime regular you will get priority over people who only want to work when it suits them. I'm sure boat skippers would try and find a place on their boat for someone who fishes with them regularly, etc, etc.
I shop at a variety of dealers, and stop and have a bit craic at all of them, so this klingon covers many galaxies :D.

Been a good thread this........:)

thats very good of him.
I was only quoting what the guy on stage said bud.
Jester you mentioned our open... are you the guy who was fishn next to me on roker pier then left to try the river?

Time to grow up

Time to grow up

Andy Rutherford has offered anglers a top class service for thirty years and guess what .......he's still doing it now!. There is a choice of fishing tackle shops for anglers in the north east and anglers will all have their own particular favourite, based on the level of service, choice of stock ect; Whatever your choice maybe these tackle shops all have one thing in common and that is the need to be supported by anglers, online shopping is a very real threat to the survival of our local shops..... where klingons/customers call them what you want congregate, do we really want to see them shut their doors? I think not. Has the time not come for some of the individuals who have posted on this particular thread to think about the silly things they are saying and more importantly the way they are behaving! Angling is riddled with guys intent on bitching about everything and anything come on get a grip and start acting like grown men instead of spoilt children..................you give angling a bad name. Finally I will offer this gem to you all.......If you dont like a particular fishing tackle shop then use a different one SIMPLES.

Hi Clarky, Wasn't a dig at you mate, sorry if it came across that way. The open comp was Eaington Colliery Open, we made it the last one in December gone, due to reduced amount of anglers taking part, we could'nt cover the prize money and prizes for this year.

Just sold my beach rod and reel, but will continue to shop at the tackle shops in the Sunderland area for my boat and reservoir gear.:)

No worries mate.
Tight lines,

And your spot on. Its been a good thread this

what a load of tosh

what a load of tosh

my interpretation of a cling on is some one who hangs round a shop buys nowt:mad:knows nowt:mad: does nowt:mad:but thinks he/she does:mad: and then tries to force a worthless load of crap info down the neck of some poor blighter thats gone into the shop:mad:

see thats how these threads get out of control, not one person has named a clingon by name, ANYTHING BUT! but they know the definition of one???? but some of the lads on here have took a swipe at the tackle shops and their owners, seems to me people use these web seite forum to launch personal attacks on easy targets. we all have opinions but sometimes better keep them to yourself or better still if you have a problem ya might want to mention it to the person or persons (clingons) involved. if you have not got the balls to do that dont use a website to do it, that is not the reason for these forums. and before anyone personally attacks me. do it constructivly and give me a chance to defend myself another basic right along with right to an opinion.

That shop up in blyth's a canny shop. Once rang practically every shop in the area for crab and he was the last one, result, as much as you want mate. When I went in to collect, while one of them went to get the stuff I had a bit crack with the other guy (the one that's always sitting in the chair) and he seemed like a nice guy, just patter about fishing marks etc. Came out feeling a bit like a clingon, well a sub species anyway.

Ha way lads the sea away get ya gear and get some bait and get ya sell down and get some pigs out or the shops shut nee bait LOL :D:D:D:D

Will have to wait till tomorrow. :(:(:(:(:(:(

:D:D:D:D:D:D
