How do you make a cart sausage? Where do you get the skin from?

Sausage skins, literally. Fill them up, tie them up, freeze them. Messy mind.

Thanks for this. I have just looked it up and it looks the business and is only around £7 for 5 metres which should last ages. This stuff looks ideal for cart and maybe other baits too like mussel, mashed up sardines or left-over worm baits from a previous session which could be frozen in for re-use. It comes in 14mm and 22mm wide tubes. I'm guessing the 22mm will be better for sea fishing?

No this version is made from Nylon and does not dissolve. It's the PVA type that dissolves.

If the mesh is the same size I would say heavy as it will take the crabs longer to get through it (if they get through at all).

Finger bandage is cheap too. I think you get 50m for about three quid but it's made of cotton so is not as tough as the nylon mesh. Not sure if crabs can get through cotton but they can probably get through sausage skin.

You need hen crabs break them open and take all the innards out of the shell and the space on the back of the crab (the red berries) put it in either a jug or large flat tray jug to pour straight away or tray for freezing then wrapping up frozen.
Once in the skin tie into sausages and freeze down ready to fish with

Definatly raw mate also add what you like to it to bulk it out squid mussels bits of worm I put breadcrumb in as we'll just to thicken it out
