blimey,never met a cod who was worried about how far you can cast,you either plonk a bait on a cods heed through knowledge of the area or blind luck,im sure a lot of lads on here have had fish close to the shore,my pb came from st abbs after a overrun no more than 10 yards out,the whole point in being able to cast at distance is you have taken time to learn so your rigs tend to be better and you will use better bait and have attention to detail,thats why they catch,but wanging out a bait miles sometimes aint the answer....ive seen this from a famous north east angler,he cast back into a skeer instead of blasting out like I did...result him 4 cod me nowt..lesson learnt
