I was right at the end mate - there were a lot of people on yesterday so you probably had lots of gear to hop over! A lot were fishing with feathers, daylights & muppets - only saw 1 launce caught. As far as mackerel go, they really are a summer/autumn fish from the shore; I won't be taking the spinning rod down for at least another month.

Gary :)

Well I tried to go to Blyth pier yesterday, car park was overflowing. Went to the harbour and all the spots I like there were full. Ended up at Baites Staithes, got one little whiting to the only bit I had out of 2 rods in 1.5hrs - binned my bait and went home.

do u just use sports and leisure for ur bait? a would be happy with a couple of dabs, last few times av been fishin av only caught one whiting and loads of crabs

Never use Sport & Leisure mate; get my own bait or buy it from Frasers in W/Bay (also have a mate who can supply me crab if I'm running short).

Sandy Bay, newbiggin by the sea:
has been catching Bass from 1lb to 3lb, the dates ppl caught..

22nd 23rd 24th don't know about monday:question: sea was amazing for sandy bay and this of course is producing bass at this time of year (last year i caught these beauties at this time bass 1 - bass 2), cant say much more apart from no pictures atm but i will find out if my friend has any... thats all i know of now

do you think commercial fishing has had an effect?

it's had a massive effect, just remember 70years ago there was billions of herring in the north sea, and chasing them up and down our coast line were huge shoals of big and i mean big tuna, all gone now, how the cod, plaice whiting ect have managed to survive in their depleted numbers god only knows, but i'm 100 per cent certain they will go the same way as the herring and tuna.

Over fishing isnt being controlled...years ago there were only a few boats out there...fishing used to be a sport not 2 make as much money as you can by wipeing the north sea clean...by the time those money grabbing pigs in parliment do something it will be far to late and the fishermen/women will have nothing but seaweed and crabs (if they havent already been wiped out) to catch:confused::(
