Can anyone on here recommend a decent places to buy a pair of chest waders from? Never had a pair before and I'm wanting a pair for the winter coming for the beach. Don't want to pay too much money if possible. Thanks on advance lads.

Sean.

I would suggest your local tackle shop, you would be able to try them on and make sure they fit properly. You'd be able to see all the different types and get any help. You would also be helping keep the local shop alive.

Northeast tackle have loads in, he has ron Thompsons neoprene 4mm for about £65-70, got some last year class and you get a repair kit and cleats for sole in the box!!

mark ya need the repair kit,i bought a pair from rutherfods about 4 year ago and they were leaking after 3 sessions,do they size them better, mine were 6/7 I was crippled after 3 hours, the next size 8/9,ferry boat's.

Do you think neoprene or PVC would be better? I will only be using them for the beach.

I love my neoprenes in the winter - nice snug fit and good & warm. I prefer the PVC's in the summer though, but they're a lot baggier & I don't like all the knee-flap you get when walking about. If, like a few of my mates, you're built like a Weeble though, the PVC's may be a more comfortable option;)

Gary :)

To be honest I probably wont be using them all the time so wanted to pay as least as possible. Just wanted some to get me through and not tear or anything with me only being on the beach and not clambering all over rocks etc. Would be ideal if I could pick some up for about 40-50 quid. Wasn't sure if it would be best to get PVC or neoprene though.

I will only be wearing them in the winter mate and its not like I'm gonna be out every week on the rocks etc, I will only literally be on the beach too. I'm really not sure on whether to get the PVC or neoprene though:confused:

I've used mine loads and never had any bother, I got 9-10 I'm a size 9 fit canny but your right about sizes no room for two pairs of socks, but winter walking summer fishing etc, it would be nice to have a pair of pvc for summer and a neoprene two sizes bigger for winter, but for the money i'm happy as, put cleets in mind you for kelp.

I'd just go try em on mate there have loads in the lads there Gary n Brad are spot on, they'll tell you pros ans cons of them, take sum thick sock like lol

ill be taking my thick socks ha. just spoke to my dad and he said he has 2 pairs of waders in the garage so before I go ahead and buy im gonna check them out. hopefully save me some money:D

One thing to bear in mind mate is that if pvc waders leak you will get cold but with neoprene you wont. Also, should you fall in, then those pvc waders become bags of water that drag you down much much more than neoprene. A no-brainer imho if using them over the winter.

I've got the Vass 740 SuperNova PVC Chest Waders but still think the Ocean are a better wader. If you get a pair of Vass waders try them on first I found them to be a slightly bigger fit than others
