This might turn out to be a interesting topic or I might get slatted.
I have often wondered how easy it would be to cheat in the big comps.
theres loads of different theories and possibilites.
You could start fishing early ie early morning or through the night !
fish the rivers !
fish from a boat !
How could you prove where someone has fished from ?
I know its down to trust and respect but alot of these comps have big prizes !
Anyone know if its happened before ?
Any tips lol !

good one .also how do you prove you caught the fish,i mentioned entering a comp to my m8 he suggested we both fish and only 1 weigh in ?? :o

edit:- not that i would mind you ;)

Ive known it done. with half ounce bullets stuffed down a codlings throat, longtime ago and the angler in question was shopped and Kicked out of his club.
Is t he risk of being called a cheat worth it?? I dont think so.

suppose you would never get on the comp circuit again but if you were a stranger to the area ...........who knows..........
might get your arse kicked in as well

I think unfortunately some people will always try it Alan. I heard a few stories years ago, one about a guy fishing outside the boundaries claiming he caught the fish at a certain point. Unfortunately for him one of the guys doing the weigh in and his mates were fishing there. He was told to walk away or they were going to publish his name for cheating.

Jim.

An old tale but it Will Bring it home to ANYONE thinking of CHEATING

An old man is sitting in an old bar in the hills of Italy totally
sick of the life he has led , when asked by a couple of backpackers
what is wrong ,he decides to tell them his story, \"when i was 19 i saved many Families from the Great floods that Swamped our Village in 1936, do i get called Pepe the Hero - no i do not, then in 1941 ,i saved 2 British pilots in the north of our country ,do i get called Pepe the Hero,no i do not, then in 1949,i save many children from a school fire ,do i get called Pepe the Hero ,no i do not, then in 1955 an old school friend returns to the village and tells Everybody about a time when we were 16.
to which he explains where he got his name

you Know - \" you suck ONE c**k\"

and ITS Pepe the C**k sucker\"

same if you Cheat - it will stick- and so it SHOULD.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a \"cracker\" of a cheating effort by one of our guys at a club trip to Whithorn - that\'s how he got his nickname \"Jimmy The Dog\".

Like to tell the tale Billy m8? You would do it better than me!

The NESA boat comps have a \"gutted weight\" policy......ie ALL fish brought back for weighing MUST be gutted prior to weighing.

Eliminates any tempation to stuff a fish with weights before the weigh-in.

Do any of the large opens operate such a system??

I realise that there\'s still the possibility of fish being caught \"out of bounds\", fish caught prior to comp start times and \"combining\" catches to be weighed-in.

The only person you would be cheating is yourself,i have won a few matches which i am proud of.Could i feel the same sitting looking at the trophies if i knew i had not really deserved them. . . .no way!

Lol.....that\'s the 2nd best bite I\'ve had this weekend.... :P

I knew somebody would pick up on that.....lol

My \"situation\".......it wasn\'t a comp.....and the pirk was on the outside.....lol

Cheating at Fishing! Lynch the bastards. People cheat at being parents so I suppose anglings not immune.

There was a big ruckus last year or so about the heaviest fish in one of the big East coast opens, £5000 prize mark, about a fish that looked wreck caught and a few other dodgy things. The result stood though I think.

Someone once weighed in a dodgy looking seacat at the Eyemouth festival one year. Everyone knew it had been caught off the boats but no-one did anything about it.

What was the boundaries for the Newbiggin open ?
As Stores says \"no body did anything about it\" but what can you do,only fair way is to have a pegged comp but I don\'t think that would work unless it was by invitation only then it would\'nt be a open then, bit of a mine field really.

the cheat we had in our club{jimmy the dog] was caught red handed he did not get a second chance if you are prepared to rob your mates for £2.00 kitty you are a cheating bast***. He was thrown out of the club stright away, we do not have cheats in our club. Jimmy took a dog fish from the harbour at whithorn that was left there for pot bait it was stinking and we knew where he had got it ,we drop a few hints that we knew and he still tried to weigh it in at the end of the day. Nobody spoke to the cheating bast*** for the rest of the weekend
