i've fished the pool 5 or 6 times now, caught on 3 of those times, each was a coaly. It feels like it should be a good place to fish but I don't seem to have too much luck.
I think the main problem there is the 'rip current' that the surfers use to get out to sea, If the sea is big enough for fishing then the current is rod bendingly strong meaning you get pulled all over the place regardless of what weight you're fishing with - 6oz gripper as an absolute minimum.
check out google maps and bing maps to have a look at the aerial photo's of the area to save you having to do a visit prior to your trip, I fish the right hand corner parallel to the rocks, if you fish onto them you'll get snagged almost every time cos of the current.
