fishing behind the queens head or the pump house you are chucking into a gully witch is quite rough and will loose gear and as for the bathing pool dont have a clue
Use rotten bottoms 12/15lb line..... main line 25/30lb and a 50/60lb shock leader with about 10/12 turns on your spool this gives you plenty of shock leader on for rubbing up against the rocks and if your fishing a mark that entails hand balling a fish up your main line should be on the spool by then, then you can grab the shock leader to hand ball...hope this helps. It's not the greatest hole in the world, more of a shingly sandy strip but the odd codling does come from it and there's not many high tide chucks around Tynemouth. Beware the splashes.

You can fish both corners at Tynemouth pool. The one closest to the long beach is fished up the gully about 4 concrete railing posts from the curve, it not very wide to hit and tends to get weeded up easily. I would suggest a spider weight as well.
The other corner closest to King Edwards bay I tend to fish right in the corner casting just to the right of straight out.
Sound advice is to have a look in daylight.

Yeh i fished threr many times when i lived blyth i used to fish the table to the side of the queens head.further round to that you hit the gully and it is apain inthe neck if you know nothing about it-- you can lose plenty of gear there always be prepared---you have got to be a very good caster at least 100 yds or so ok.:yltype:

i've fished the pool 5 or 6 times now, caught on 3 of those times, each was a coaly. It feels like it should be a good place to fish but I don't seem to have too much luck.
I think the main problem there is the 'rip current' that the surfers use to get out to sea, If the sea is big enough for fishing then the current is rod bendingly strong meaning you get pulled all over the place regardless of what weight you're fishing with - 6oz gripper as an absolute minimum.
check out google maps and bing maps to have a look at the aerial photo's of the area to save you having to do a visit prior to your trip, I fish the right hand corner parallel to the rocks, if you fish onto them you'll get snagged almost every time cos of the current.

Those shots are either side of Brown's Bay, Cullercoats, where there's a small bathing pool cut into the rock. The lads are talking about the big pool at the south end of the Longsands, Tynemouth beach. Don't worry though, it causes a lot of confusion when people say they were fishing by the "bathing pool" - often have to ask "which one??".
Most people I know refer to the "bathing pool" meaning the south end of Tynemouth, where you can fish the bathing pool skeer at low tide. I usually refer to the other shot as Crawleys, or the Pulpit which is a high tide shot next to the rock-pool; as you say Table rocks & the Chair (a HW shot) as you move north. North Crab Hill, a LW shot is the south side of Brown's Bay.
Can't really add much to what David and others have suggested, I've only once fished the bathing pool at HW many years ago without success. However, the bathing pool skeer is one of my favourite LW shots when there's a nice S/Easterly coming around Sharpness point - a good size tide & good on the flood.

you can,t go wrong if you come down the stairs in front of the queens head pub in front of the stairs is the goats gully ,you don,t have to blast it ,50 60 iyards is all you need ,you can cast slightly to the right were there is long sandy weedy flat skeers ,on a big sea these sandy bits wash out the lugworm and the fish come in closer to feed .you only loose gear if you cast tothe left.hope this helps .davy.
