digging at boulmer

can any1 give me some help on digging at boulmer
e.g. which is the best areas ect
any help would be appreciated

Go on the biggest tides, but keep to the area south of the line of stones, if they are not clear then look at the maps.

We were up there b4 the Whitley Bay Night comp. If it is anything like it was then, then you will see where the best place to dig is because everybody will already be there! We just headed to where everyone else was, but it was south of the stones and past the post that stands out in the middle of the haven. The tide was early on then, probably 25-30 people there with lights on and although we took ours, it was getting light by the time we\'d arrived. Hard work, even with proper forks and although we got quite a few, they were not brilliant and a bit on the small side.

\"25-30 people there\", \" a bit on the small side\", Excuse the message of conseravtion here but if 25-30 pople are there say Sat and Sun mornings every week then it\'s no wonder they\'re so small. Boulmer cannot sustain that kind of digging!

I was just teliing it like it was Rory. We weren\'t the ones there for wholetime possible to dig and personally it was the second time I\'d been there and I wouldn\'t be rushing back. It was a few days before an open (the thursday it was), maybe that might account for the number of people that were there?

Hey Ant I\'m not havin a go at y\', all I\'m saying is that we\'re all responsible for conserving what we have. I regularly dig there for the pure and simple fact is that I\'ve lived around that area all me life and it\'s the closest place to go. When I was there last Sunday morning there were 30 odd people then and I see it like the fish stocks, if that volume of people are there every week then it can\'t possibly sustain it.

I know what you mean Rory, I see things the same way and I think everyone else does too. Shame it wasn\'t the same in the past, when the real damage was done though, same as the fish stocks really. I personally feel worse about the peeler crab/lack of it than I do about the worm. Understanding that it a short season people tend to go OTT and the damage is there for everyone to see. It must have a huge impact on the fish coming inshore for feed when most of it has been taken.
