Out of Sunderland today on the Catch 22. Hard work all day. Only four fishing due to people not letting the skipper know they were not coming. Must thank the skipper Bob for going out with only four paying customers, disgrace the people who just dont turn up. Fished hard ground and a load of wrecks - nowt anywhere. Think there were about eight cod and a couple of ling as well as the usual mackerel all day. There were boats from the Tyne in the same area so there cant be nowt up that way. Boats also as far down as Seaham had nowt.
Hard going all day but thanks to the skipper for trying all over to find us fish.
This is why it is called fishing and not catching.

all they have to do is text the skipper or phone him bad crack.
top marks to the skipper for taking you boys out

Was hard work today as well, 11 wrecks fished with only 4 holding fish and dirty water upto 8 miles off land....plus side the mackerel are here in force at last :)

I think the big swell followed by a big tide has whirled up all the mud and is still not fully settled. Combine that with the (now) smallish tides and a bit of algae bloom and the fishing is very scattered.

Also the Charterboats have not posted many catch reports (where is North Star`s ??? Lingking?)

Some skippers had good days...found some clear waters, but most were cruising and cruising (me being one of them) to find the odd wreck where conditions were OK (probably wrecks which were on sand/rocks and not mud.

Would be interesting to know which wrecks do well after big swells and which do not. I have a certain idea about the Sunderland wrecks.

i am not the only one who posts reports for charters, and of course many reports go on cbuk or facebook forums too i had expected the main party to do so but in short the sunday was jolly hard work, fish appearing in short bursts(for lack of a better way to put it) orange type shad worked hard in the clear water accounted for a fish or 5.squid too seemed to do better than the free bait(mackarel)no monsters caught, not even magnified ones:D:D:D:D

Nice one Lingking

I personally think we all benefit much more from detailed and honest catch reports like yours and the ones in this thread, even if they are not glamorous and glorious.
That bragging and exaggerating is plainly annoying and delusional. We all have good days and bad days and we all make right and wrong decisions.

I was steaming my balls off on the last two trips with little return.

I believe Peter (Sapphire) and Alpaucin (Maali) are out today and I cant wait for their reports...I hope its getting better with clearing water and increasing tides.

I am out tomorrow.

By the way Lingking: You haven`t commented on the "Cod or Ling" thread...I wonder what you prefer :D:):p:)

ha ha norbert, the "lingking" name came from getting 3 ling just over 20lbs on shy torque, from whitby,on the one trip :)long before i joined n e s a.:) preference?? i am not greatly bothered either eating or catching.

for me cod give a greater fight especially in shallower water, the ling starts to fight once the blighter is in the boat.:)

once again i find pollock the greaterest fighters of all whether 20 ft of water or 400ft:)
