Disgraced at fishing gear snobs.

Hi,

I had to post something that happened today to me in a local tackle shop and ask other anglers their opinions.

Right,

I went out to a popular local spot today but before that I popped into a local tackle shop (I won't say where as it's not the point!) to buy some bait as normal.
A few others were in the shop and they were looking in my direction sniggering!!! When they started to leave I couldn't believe what I was hearing, These other "so called" anglers were in as many words taking the Pi** out of certain items of my gear!:(
Now, As I'm new to fishing I'm building my gear up but one particular item/s of my gear (Which I have read and heard good things about) seemed to be hilarious to them:mad:!

Just the snobbyness and and general Ar**e hol*ness shocked me.

Is this Sea fishing? are most anglers like these guys? To a starter this gives a great first impression of what's to come, and, are clubs full of people like this?:o

Anyway I just posted this to see what other anglers in the world of Sea fishing thought?

Thanks.

tackle tarts mate you will see them around, all the gear no idea,
dont worry about it most sea fishing guys are ok blokes.

****e that man!!

****e that man!!

I am also new to fishing or should say i am returning after a long break. Nowt worse than people taking the ****,me being a bad tempered sod i would have said something to them. anyway just to add my opinion, ever since I have returned to fishing everyone I have spoken to, and tackle shops I have approached for advice, have been great. I play Golf in summer and thats a real snobs sport. This excellent site is just proof of the good repour and respect anglers have for each other in the north east. forget about it and enjoy your fishing.

hi there. i have been fishing for nearly 2 years now and have a rod that coz £30 and am more than happy with it as in works for me and just feels right. i dont care what people say about my gear as you could go and spend £300 on a rod it does not mean your going to catch anymore fish than me with my £30 rod. in my opinion it's a sport that you can make as expensive as you want or as cheap as you want. To the snobby anglers you refer to i say think what you want i dont care:p i enjoy my fishing so get a life. :)

Got to agree with the bloke who said tackle bitches I've met a few! Got to admit one or two have turned out ok but some of them talk aload of tackle s***t at the end of the day what dose the fish see The hook and bait (stupid sods) not rod and reel !!

dont worry about it mate ya get them in all sports tha called w**kers,my mate got best rods reels etc,but he wont fish beaches coz the sand gets everywhere not on rocks incase his rod falls down so ya only see him on piers catching flatties most of the time, probably catch as many fish with a £4.99 handline.

take no notice Kenny, most guys are ok and willing to help. just dont use that shop, until you are more confident, and you can tell them to feck off. :D

This tends to happen in most hobbies, theres always someone who has all the gear and no idea, they can talk the talk but when it comes down to it they are full of ****e, wont go out if the sun isnt out, wouldnt dream of sitting on a beach or cliff edge in the freezing cold or pouring rain, you will soon be able to spot these tossers, then you can give them a wide berth and only talk to real fishermen.

it's not the tackle that catches the fish it's the angler. I remeber an old bloke that used to fish Whitley Beach "Panama Joe" had an old rod and scarborugh reel, wore wellies, no fancy waders, those that didn't know him and had all the fancy gear used to take the micky, then watched as he pulled out fish after fish while they blanked.

Some tackle shops you go into seem to have a residual crowd of fair weather, so called anglers talking out of their ar**s, talking sh**te about gear they would never have a clue what to do with. They just seem to be at certain shops all the time, if it was my shop i'd tell them all to f**ck off because they probably never buy anything anyway. I'm not in an angling club myself but have fished with and know many who are and I can tell you the vast majority will offer constructive advice that will improve your angling skills and will not take the p**s. Most anglers start by using less expensive gear than guys who have been at it for years and yes you can catch a fish of a life time on the former, but as you get more experienced I'll guarantee you'll want to go for the so called top end stuff that's advertised.

fishing for luckys

fishing for luckys

ive met a few over the years total tossers got know time for them think they know it all ive fished for over 40 years now and im still learning and not afraid to say ive had some crap rods over the years but still had my fair share of fish so dont let them bother you there's alot more nice anglers out there good luck for the futre :D:D

Dont worry about it, as stated above its what worked for you and what makes you happy and catches you fish, i have fished for most of my life and never been a tackle tart and have some very "not in tackle" but it works for me.

Same in every sport like golf, if you turn up with dunlop golf clubs you get the looks but when you swing a T shot down the green high and straight then stop :)

we take a young lad out fishing at first he used a £30 second hand rod and a small fresh water reel and didnt use fancy rigs just a loop in the line and within the first month he got a 8lb cod on roker pier. now he has got better gear and still out fishes us

Unlucky mate

Unlucky mate

There always has to be someone who takes the ****, there just nasty *******s.

Where all anglers, and no matter wat gear you use, they should respect that we all enjoy the same sport, and your only learning mate.

A bet they used gear like wat u have when they were learning, so why cant they show some manners!!:mad:

P.S. Hope you found the rite gear you wanted before when u were asking...:D:D

Just ask on here about gear and you will get honest wide range of replies.

Nice to see you posting Dave hope you had a good xmas.

Try taking up salmon fishing if you want to know what a real tackle tart is!
They will roll up on the riverbank with over 5 grands worth of gear and never catch a thing:)The same "chaps"think nowt of spending a grand a day on some back end Tweed fishing and still come away with nowt:)All walks of life have these geezers, they're known as "tossers"and are best ignored to let you get on with the important stuff, which is enjoying yourself!
