tell you a story about sniggering, many years ago couple of us went to southern ireland fishing, theres a mark called barrow harbour, mate said to me wait till one eater arrives, local old guy with one tooth in his head ( mate had fished the place before) we had all the gear, all new, all shiny, chesties the lot, an hour later we had a couple of flaties but it was hard work, this guy arrives, basically hes got what resembled a brush pole with an old old fresh water fixed spool on it,the wieght was an old spark plug, now im punching fresh sandeel out with one rod and heaving another 50 yards, `one eater` flings his about his max cast 50 foot, no more line on the spool, now i will admit im having a snigger when he announced, `i has one, its about three pund`, an hour later and 4 more bass he says hes off as sports not that good !! by them snigger has turned to humble pie n the realisation good gear dont mean you will catch, especially when we still had no bass !!!, once he left we moved to his mark and cast into the same place, no bass, met the old guy again, he told us not to waste our time untill the water reached the post, then after an hour give up, he had fished the place for over 60 years and it was always the same if you wanted bass, i asked him if he was going to replace his gear, simple answer why ? came back
