Do i need a boat survey for insurance and how do i get one ?

I suppose its going to depend on what insurance and company and what insurance. Not a neccesity with some insurance companies

the downside is a \'proper\' marine survey won\'t be cheap!

Aye, like john says on ANE , £200 - £300 as an average, I`ve never needed a survey for boats I`ve had, just contact broker and they`ll send you form to fill in
