me and my mate stu fished roker lastnight from 10pm just has everyone was giving up hope for mackerel and leaving for home ,we fished my usual mark before the bunker straight away into codling but not quite size ,i decided to hit the roundhead followed by stu a while later ,first cast rod was out 10 mins few rattles to give interest then sommit hit then slacked lined brought back memorys of them cold winter nights even tho it was a warm night :D :D reeled up a nice codling that weighed just under 3lb on fresh crab .

more and more codling was showing but not making size stu was into them aswell every cast he also had a small plaice ,few whiting ,then the better stamp of whiting turned up i kept a few of these for the nieghbour .we decided to move back down to where we started off i gets a nice whiting first cast 35cm,s

daylight was creeping in fast baits was getting hit hard straight away coalies ,dabs

pouting and more whiting and codling even a rockling showed too but stu pulls in after a cracking couple of bites on hes 2 hook flapper set up a humongous pouting without a doubt best ive seen yet well over 2lb i say with a cracking whiting :o

i took another size codling at 37cm,s which was returned
been a while since i was on roker an really enjoyed the session must had over 40 fish between us and we didnt even think about trying for mackerel we was too busy :) but welldone stu on 2 good specimens ;)

oh by the way stu ya owe me a quid for heaviest fish :D

Nice goin mate, a said that that sea we had would hav brought a few bigger codling inshore. Aldo, they are the first whiting ive seen in month's, they were very sparce or no existant on shields pier this year.

great report, some nice fish there. was on blyth peir and there was alot of small codling there aswell alough when i asked a guy if he had caught out he showed me a big bag of undersize codling biggest 30cm :mad:

yep i did but he wouldnt have it he said whats the point of fishing if you just chuck the fish back! argued with him but after a while i gave up as he just kept puting more in the bag :(

The stupid "£$%^&!!:mad: Just think, most of those fish could have grew up to be 2lb to 3lbers for this winter. A dont think we shud blame trawlers for the depletion of the codling, blame that T£$T!!!:cool::exclam:

i love this time of year for all night fishing,do you know when you are going next for a all night session, and would you not mind if i join you.

havent a clue next mission m8 its usually a short notice session from been bored at home then off out with the gear ya never know some times a wake up next day and just head out but its great when theres bait in the fridge handy :D
