I took a picture of the sunrise this morning , it's in my phone and will probably stay there
, I admit , it was from the marina and not from the boat out at sea , but sunrise it was......... I should have stayed in bed though
Actually , apart from the swell in the morning (the dreaded noise of surf crashing into Warkworth beach greeted me as I stepped from the car again) it turned out not a bad day , fishing wise it was another step on the learning curve ladder with a venture further afield in the boat (I pick my days to do things don't I
) and a lesson (an expensive one) in how not to fish in a big swell in deep water. It was pretty aweful in the morning , but got progressively better all day , which is a bit of a bummer seeing as I went out so early because I thought it might get worse during the day :red:
I caught my usual haul of cod , again no monsters but plenty of them , caught a lot of mackerel today , they were taking anything and everything , had a decent pollock and a good coalie about 2.5lb
I used some foul and abusive language in a very raised voice (I'm allowed , I'm alone and at least 6 miles from the nearest ears
) on more than one occasion when the wrecks were stealing my tackle , and on more than one occasion thought about chucking the rod in the boat and going home , but I was still out there at 3pm making excuses to have one more drift
I love fishing
