Fishing when it's flat?

Hi,
Do you still fish for cod when it's flat, or are you better saving your bait for when there is a sea on?
Do you get the odd fish if its flat?
And does a southerly wind help at all up here or does it need to be a south easterly to a north easterly?
Thanks in advance for any help!

it helps if ya have a nice sea away for cod but ya will still pick cod/codling up when its flat fish rocky areas like whitburn ryhope seaham souter marsdon plus the piers will still throw the cod up when its flat and also the river tyne.

some marks fish better in a south easterly and other marks fish better in north easterly

I have had Codling from a few rock marks in flat calm condions but some marks fish better than others when theres no Sea on, just get out there and give it a bash. North of the tyne try The Beacons at the end of the Golf coarse Newbiggin or Cambois rocks both throw some canny fish up even in Daylight.

john.

Great answers, thanks!
I had been thinking of saving me passes up for when there's a bit of a sea on, but apparantly all the winds going to be South west for ages.
So will try the rocks in the meantime after reading all your posts.
Cheers.
