want some info on the headlamps you lot use, want one with a good flood area and distance, and one that can be used as a normal lamp with a reasonable distance.

should of put what I want it for, taking photos in the dark, need a bit of light just to focus on subject, normally badgers, will have alook when I come out of bath
 
Best headlamp for this type of use is definately the 'LED Lenser H7. I use mine for crabbing and fishing mainly, but when those fish appear for me it can help to easily illuminate the area so i can take some nice pics.

The headlamps beam and focus is easily adjustable and it has is rated to shine a distance of 80 to 110m. It uses 3x AAA batteries. All this for £47, cannot complain mate!:angel:


Some of the pics in my 2010 fishing album were taken at nite, and they turned out great!!.
 
petzl zoom this is what i use so far so good....an aa adapter costs another five ..the battery square one that comes with has lasted me since december and i walk the dog with it too....no complains....good enough for me ,.....my back up is a cheapo led one which was my prev one ....always found my way home with it as well...i paid 20 quid for mine delivered new with spare bulb and battery
 
i use a fenix hp 10, has 4 different light modes from 7 lumens up to 225 lumens and is waterproof. very well built it takes 4 AA batteries. cost £50 with free delivery from fenix torches.
 
cheers lads will have a look at all those on the net, never heard of the hong kong phewy but will seee what I can find out about them.

I have the lenser h7R, and the princeton tec apex. The lenser is very light and has a "focus" adjustment from flood to spot, it also has a dimmer switch so you can drop the power right down for baiting up to preserve the battery life. The tilt mechanism has snapped on mine so it's now just fixed in place and the switch used to stick as it got corroded, I stripped it and cleaned it and put it back together with a smear of vaseline and it's ok. These two faults spoil a good lamp.

The Princeton Tec is better built but heavier, it has a fixed beam but also 4 additional leds as a flood for the likes of baiting up and close work. The flood and the spot modes have two power settings and a flashing mode.

But.......have a look at the hong kong lamps that codseeker and bilzo have said....great value.
I bought one of these, it took a while to come from hong kong but it was only about £14. It's super bright, and comes with 2 batteries, charger and adaptor. I wanted it as a spare but it's now my main light.
