How to tripple your cast distance

Started fishing in Feb bought the chepest gear i could find and had a max cast of about 25 meters. So this week it took 4 steps to increasing my cast.

1. Order new Rod, VFM Sport from Reel Sports (Dean Rd)

2. Order new reel, Okuma MG-30CS from Reel Sports (Dean Rd)

3. Pick up new rod and reel

And most important of all..

4. Take some advice from some one who knows what there talking about.

Picked up my new gear yesterday and when to have a bit play last night,, was doing ok (i thought) untill Andy (of reel sports) can and showed me how it was done. Followed what he told me to the best i could and the lead flew like a dream not sure how far but it was but at a guess id say over 75m. will have to have a go and pace it out.

So my top tip is yeah give it a go but if you can get some advice of someone who knows what there talking about.

Thank alot Andy it really is much apriciated.

get on the field with some of the lads on here they will almost double that distance for you after a few lessons otg

put the time in and the rewards will be plentifull try and watch others casting and dont be afraid to ask for help i have never known an angler what wont help you with your casting or has codseeker says get up the field the lads will help you up there

Thumbs up for trying mate, like tony says listen to anglers and don,t be afraid to ask, the summer months are ideal for practicing and developing casting styles, use whatever you feel comfortable with, many lads do it .aim for the 100-150 yard mark and you,ll be sure to catch fish.clip your baits down and watch it fly

I've got a VFM rod, I love it and so do my friends. I really do love it even though Terry built it ;) honest. My other favourite rod is a "Black Knight" yes everytime I unleash it in company all the fishing dudes start head banging and giving it Deep Purple. Built by A Rutherford based in the middle of Gods Country. Absolutely fantastic rod based on a tip tornado sport I think but made by a local lad with probably the biggest dog in the world behind the bar and the chance to see the superb Michael Quayle if you're lucky. I go for the designer option every time being quite cool - LOngbeach, Response, That one that Bob Gascoigne and them made. Neil Mackelows belter radge machine etc.

As for reels I will talk about that tomorrow

Shheeeesh feeling funny

When I got my VFM I'd read a few "Sea Anglers" so picked up the tip section and pushed it up against the ceiling to test it's whateverness (Why do we do these strange things) It bent a bit, I had a chat with Tel and went for it (still got the tripod as well although North Shields IS [90 mpg on the boat] milled me some proper cups] I thought I'd better check the butt section as well. It was quite butty and that so I pushed the 2 halves together. They didn't join together though like tent poles or when you're putting a microlite with polystyrene wings together. There was a big gap left between the 2 bits of rod. No way would I consider being sucked in to buying such shoddy goods. I told Mr. Woods and he telt me all about proper rods, spigots, and flea flahs and the fact that that was the craic with the rod joining business. So there you go Gangsters

ell if you got it from rutherfords
it would have been built in gods country
south shields
the lad that whips his rods lives in south shields
hahaha

i have a black knight to mate, absolutley fantastic rod, made by century just for andys shop wudnt get rid of it for the world, have ya tried with a 7oz sinker, easily put an extra 30 - 40 yrds on my cast

a lot of lads don,t realise that a heavier sinker will load a rod earlier during a cast hence early lock up half way through the cast and you get that,oh **** feeling upstairs, this is gonna break.it won,t if you use a progressive power stroke, slow start fast finish

if you are using a good rod you will never get that feeling that its going to snap thats why i only use zipplex if i am trying someone elses rod which is a different make i always tend to hold back had a few of these rods break on me and its a painfull expereience if you are getting that sensation will .i dont think you must have a lot of faith in your gear i have been threatend with a ban for going on about ziplex but on this forum .but i thought it was a democracy not a dictatorship

sorry mate i need to say this ,does it catch ya fish lmfao

lol well managed 1 nice flattie and a few eals friday night from the first gate on shields pier then 5 mackrel on saturday(left after 5 cos i didnt need anymore), and then another 4 mackie on sunday. Bored of the mackie bashig already lol i'm going to try targeting flatties!!

It could be your casting style snapping rods :)

At the end of the day its what ever the individual feels happy using, I have a wr300 for 3 years now and love it, my mate uses a cod6 that I think is a stick but he loves it, my other mate has a zippy, and the lad at work has a greys A14...that's me out of people I know now.

Bottom line if your happy using a rod its half the battle, that’s why their are so many manufactures of everything in life.

No north east i do not have a casting style i like to think of my casting being like a tea pot pouring water grasshopper .the water will flow and bend freely like a zipplex but take away the spout and the pot is no longer a zipplex it is inferiour object and the flow of water will be jaged and maybe broken this never happens with zipplex grasshopper.just poorly built teapots

lol nice one!! but think we're all agreed that you could have the best rod in the world but if you dont know how to cast in you may as well have a broom stick
