I.D. Cards

Alan, if there was a massive terrorist attack on the Uk I dont think I.D. cxards would be of much use. A few anti aircraft missiles, machine guns and flak guns maybe of some help, but throwing I.D cards at rogue airoplanes wont have much effect.

Obvioulsy having an id card and a dna data base will not stop the likes of terrorists anyone who thinks it will is barmy or the nutter who goes on a shooting spree. But a dna data bank would be able to solve what is now coming the run of the mill crimes, rape, burglary to muredr, and hopefully rather than solve some of these crimes the perpetrator would think twice about doing premeditated acts as he knew he would be caught. And of course as in everything progress will make it easier ti track dna in the future. Just think the effcet it would have, car, home insurance would drop. And when the crimes figures would start to drop, not saying it would happen over night, but might make it a lot safer for our kids in the future.

Just caught that Bert lol .I\'mm all for the I.D. cards ,as mentioned if you\'ve done nothing wrong then there\'s nothing to fear ,might winkle out a few badduns .

I agree with Mark. Why should we be forced to carry I.D cards and I along with Mark and, I believe, a few thousand others will not be coerced by this government or any other into doing so. Our parents and there parents before them fought in wars so we would be free to choose. This government is going to undo all thier sacrifices.

Sorry read all the arguments my mind remains unchanged, i still belive everyone in the country should have an id card with picure, finger prints etc (paid for by the government) except they will prodably put up taxes to do this and we pay anyway, and a sample of their dna. One conclusion I have come to, have you noticed in any arguement the anti\'s always put up the most vociferous arguement.

can\'t remeber saying it was bad anywhere, but think about bait digging and fishing the minority always make the most noise and quite often get there way

Thank our lucky stars that people like Mark , Tony and \"Charlie\" have the foresight and savvy to see exactly through this ID bollocks . good on all of you .

got the Bollo#ks bit right because most of it goes straight over my head,am just a thick working class lad with three young bairns, the little one loves watching the planes flying between Blyth and Seaton Sluice he does\'nt understand how they stay up there,he says look Daddy its nearly stopped,I said to him it probably will one day son,Priceless young bairns.

and what would you feel like if somebody harmed your three bairns and there was no evidence pointing to anybody except somebodies dna. If they had a dna data bank they could quite easilly apprehend the culprit, otherwise thy could get away with it and do it again. have to admit bairns are priceless they need to be protected.

I\'m totally for ID cards Alan,if these stopped one Crime/fraud/Illegal Imergrant then so be it,Ive got nowt to hide or axe to grind,I\'m proud to be British,
just been to Sommerfields theres not much beer left mind lads

I\'ll be happily on the front line of any protest and will happily go to chokey for failing to comply. If as little as 100,000 people refusee this what will they do?? lock us all up?? need to build a lot more prisons - what id a million people refuse, what then??

Anarchy in the purest sense of the word will stop this thing from happening

Miners strike = the pits closed anyway (sadly)
Poll Tax riots = they did it anyway and if you did\'nt pay at the start they evenually got the money off you
War in Iraq protests = it happened anyway

One Question Mark yes or no
Do you believe every UK citizen should have some form of official Identification on them

to me its just another excuse for the goverment to control us ,they already read our e-mails ,listen into phonecalls for key phrases ,they know what we buy where we buy it ,bank details arnt secure anymore ,doctor patient privalige most likely is non existant,as for it lowering crime ,if the police did there jobs in the first palce along with the courts there would be less crime due to the criminals being locked up and not sent on holiday, and in todays society it wont be long before some clever dick comes a long and forges them so whats the point, finger prints ? haha hasnt anyone heard of gloves ,DNA could easily be planted at crimes , i feel like i fell asleep and woke up in coldwar russia, how much control do these people want and why

ive gone off stella lol im on the bud

To be honest Mark I would have felt as strongly as you obviously do a few years back ,however the advent of people from other countries be they asylum seekers or not ,and the increase in related crime ,Eastern European card crime to mention only a fringe problem...we all know that\'s only the tip of the iceberg ..leads me to believe ( as an upstanding member of society as we all are ) that there\'s nothing to be lost and lots to be gained in the introduction of ,what at one time would have been deemed \"big brother \" measures.
