sorry David you werent exactly a high priority when i started packing up the shop yesterday, plus i think an email rather that a a Sh**ty remark on an open forum would have been more suitable. when i come across your books which are somewhere in amongst a pile of boxes i'll be sure to let you know!

That’s sad news and the end of an era, I’ve used the shop for 30+ years and always tried to get all my gear from there or Billy’s. Internet gear may be cheaper but it’s no use if without support your local tackle shop has to shut and you cannot get bait or other last minute odds and ends too.

The shop has been through a few hands in recent years and I thought Simon was making a good go of it. Good luck to the remaining NE shops and to Simon and family as they move on.

Hi Simon,

Don't believe that you would think that I would question your motives. Truth is I have no idea what happens in the circumstances you find yourself in. I gave you the books in the best possible faith. Disappointed you think otherwise.

The only way anyone not just myself would read your post would be that you were insinuating that i might sell your books and not tell you? so dont be dissapointed Stores i know exactly what you meant!

mmmmm don't really know what to say now - I send Simon 15 books, who I knew was struggling to keep the business going, with a sale or return, no invoice until after Xmas, good luck with your struggles message, and then find the business has gone down.... I'm really sad because Lewis' have been the best bait shop I've ever been to but I'm told all the assets are on e-bay (presumably mine included) and I don't really know what the procedure is so I reply in a way I would believe non commital which would answer my question. Would I expect to be top of the pile? not at all. Would I expect a reply telling me where I stand ? Yes I would.

Sad that things have gone this far.

I think a simple pm would have been the best option!!!

Sorry to hear about the shop simon, used it since it was temples when I was a young lad.

Hope I wasn't being misleading David when I mentioned the stock going on the e-bay shop. I'd asked Simon when I knew he was planning to close if he'd got a buyer for all his stock & he told me, no, he'd be putting it on the e-bay site as any potential buyer would no doubt offer significantly less than it was worth as a job lot. A few lads had also asked me if he was having a "closing down" type clear out - again he told me no, and as it happens the closure has been brought forward a little anyways...I didn't know myself he'd closed until I rang him yesterday with the intention of picking up some bait & stuff today. So my earlier reply to the thread was just a heads-up for people who'd been asking me what was happening.

Agree,a pm regarding any transaction between you,would have shown a bit of decorum.If you had then dealt with this bloke contemptuously,putting it on an open forum,would have been fine.
Shame regarding your shop mate,best of British for the future.:)

Hadn't been in much myself for aaages and was ironically going to be coming down next week to stock up...to try and reinvigorate my enthusiasm for the sport

Yes shop will be a miss the thing I found when i was in the shop Simon always had time for people young or old,regular customer or new and whether buying or just looking he took the time to help.i wasn't in there a great deal just when I was looking for rods n reels or reel spares but he always had time for you.good luck to him in his new job.
