. An artificial bait that tricks a fish into eating it is as good an artificial worm or fish im my books, this was the case last year and will be this year. If people disagree we will look into changing for next year.
phil if ppl disagree then its their prerogative not too enter the fish or the challenge. next u gonna get someone(like me?) who might disagree with microscopic fish , then u will get someone who will find kayak an excessive advantage over shore bla bla bla. rules get set folks will just have to play along .
(real reason for rant ----artificial corn already en route from ebay)
I would think most carp lakes will allow fly fishing it's not much different from surface fishing for them. Most lakes insist on barbless hooks.
Your fish will count mate, just a any trout caught on a blob type fly or any fish caught on an isome worm fished statically or a Mullet on a bread fly. Sorry Phil, I'm not trying to sound like a smartar$e but classing placcy corn, bread, dog biscuits, etc as lures is making the species hunt a joke and takes all the fun out of it as well as devaluing the fish caught legitimately on lures and lure angling techniques.
You don't hear match anglers like Alan Scotthorne saying they are going lure fishing with fake casters do you? No, they use them as they are simply more robust than their loosefeed and don't require continual rebaiting when fish are feeding and they may suck out a hookbait of real caster, corn, etc.
It seems a few people don't know what lure fishing actually is. Lure fishing is using a non-food item such as crankbaits, jerkbaits, soft plastics, flies, etc that you IMPART ACTION in to in order to induce a fish into taking it as a feeding or aggression response. Are we going to class tab ends as lures too? I know a couple of people that have caught fish on one!
This all reminds me a bit of this clip from Father Ted
Father Ted: 'Small' vs 'Far Away' - YouTube
I think I'm going to withdraw from the hunt now as it seems rather pointless calling it a lure fishing species hunt. However, I may just decide to go hammer most of the British and introduced coarse species on placcy corn, hemp and casters.![]()
