Lure fishing low tide

Can anyone recomend any good marks for (beginner) lure fishing (ive got a spinner, toby's and a diving minnow) along the south shields/marsden/whitburn coastline, at low tide, Thinking of getting out for a couple of hours on wednesday night.

and...Is anyone catching any wrasse lately?

I deleted all the nonsense from your thread Andy.

Hopefully someone will be along to advise you.

Anymore and I'll be ringing Mr Shifter to help me with some NESA removals.

Nice one :D

Seriously though, is it worth trying spinners off the pier?

No mate wind blowing straight westerly up to 20 odd mph so you want to find a place thats below land height to get some shelter the island at marsden might be worth a shot or the shelves at whitburn if you dont mind a little scale down hill again cannon ball rocks is slightly sheltered with wind on your back might be coalys about

why not try the jettys and promonades in the tyne or wear,on small high water tides, the lads have had some success with power isomes, and there is plenty of light at a lot of marks in the rivers. davy.

Try Whitley pipe - exposed at low tide - chance of a pollack or coalies, or mackerel if you hit lucky. Careful if there are any swells running though.

Try whitburn mate, there is a skeer in front of the south shelf of the wherry, you can get down onto it very very easily and can fish the tide at least 2 1/2 hours up, then just move up to higher ground, species there to expect, wrasse, coley, Pollock, cod so a decent chance of a Pollock, and you could even switch to float fishing

Cheers everyone for all the advice, plenty to think about. The rocks around Souter and Whitburn sound good. I know the cliff tops really well, ive lived in shields all my life, and I've jogged and cycled along them for years but never really thought about the fishing. I might have a look down at the wherry, jimmy, wrasse and pollock sound good! will they go for spinners? A question though, what is a skeer (tried googling it but nowt)?

Dont know if the wrasse will take spinners, they do take immatative crab when float fishing but the pollock and coleys will take spinners.
A skeer is a mass of rocks or 1 really humungus rock lol, when you are on the cliff top look down to the sea and you will see it, however you wont be able to see it last hour of the flood or first hour of the ebb as it will be covered.the skeer in question is approx 80-100 feet long and approx 20 feet wide. As longvas the waves are not lashing over its a good mark.

Went down to the wherry tonight, fished for 3 hours, in the rain, from low tide up. Tried a spinner, a Toby, and feathers, got nothing, apart from from loads of tiny sand eels, every time I reeled in there was a bunch of them impaled on the hooks, must of been millions of them out there.
