Well what was supposed to be a very early start, with the 2 hour drive to the boat. Turned its head right upside down. Mrs had other plans as she went out for a meal with the words I really don't want to go and I wont be late!! well she arrived home worse for wear with drink and at almost 11pm when the alarm call was for 4am. well no way was we going to get out early. so later it was.
We eventually got out through the lock gates at about 11am and we met a lovely flat sea. Where to go was the next question well with the given forecast it could only be offshore and search for them elusive cod.

Well after an hour and a half's steam it was time for the first stop, 3 fishless drifts and a move was in order this was looking like a bad choice. but after another 4 wrecks and a couple of hours the search was over. we hit a wreck and bingo, Cods surfaced we had about 10 drifts over this wreck and this resulted in 6 cod in which I had 5 and the Mrs had one lol she was suffering! as the tide went slack the fish went off the feed. We tried again with bait but the wreck had gone dead. So with the breeze freshening and the oncoming wind forecast it was time to head home. Not a bad result for a few hours fishing. the cod ranged from 5lb to 15lb

Here is one from yesterday!

Thanks for all the replies hopefully I will be able to post more reports as I have had a busy year working but now its quiet.

Great result Sean. Just goes to show, good results can come even with a late start. Did the wife catch any?..

The Mrs got one about 7lb but she had another one on which she could not reel up, I took over and it came off half way up I would say it would of been the biggest of the day. sadly she had been caught on the wreck and the hook was bent.

Oh well there is always another time.
