after being out of shore fishing for about 5 years im back, bought myself a cracking set up off a lad on here and today was my first trip out.

newton was the venue and given the time of year we weren't expecting anything, this was more of a get back into it trip.

baits used were rag, lug and mussel.

time for a few pics.

the one thing we didnt want to see was one of these, time to move again

after losing loads of gear and almost admitting defeat we decided to hit the beach to see if we could save the day with a flatty

after a few casts into what seemed like very shallow water we decided to admit defeat and call it a day.

kris saved a blank on his last cast

now its time to chill with a few of these :)

as i said we weren't expecting anything, it was just nice to get back out again.

mick the gear was spot on, the rod is a dream to use and the reels are perfect, hopefully it wont be too long till i christen it.

mick i was planning to have a few practice casts first, i had one cast and knew i'd found a good rod, its the first century ive had and im very very impressed with it. its not as stiff as im used to when dragging gear through the kelp but for casting its a beauty and it works perfectly with the squall, i think ive found a new favourite rod and reel :)

Aye canny report m8 think your on the football hole we usually fish the other side great spot when weathers right

thats what i said, if theres a seal there then the fish must be there but its a hard choice to stay or move cos if the fish know there's a seal about they'll all be hiding

Maybe hiding, I think they keep the fish closer to shore. Had fish close in before until the seals left then the fish could move on.
