Thanks Alan - pleased you enjoyed the show.
It was impossible to display times of talks etc. today, as a private party had been booked into the upstairs lounge and we couldn't get access until 2.0 p.m. - hence the prepared posters had to be scrapped. Also with the strength and direction of the wind it was not possible for Danny Moeskops to do his outside casting demonstration until around 3.30 p.m. With demonstrations of this nature, his priority has to be the safety of the spectators and, although tomorrow's demonstrations will be posted on notices throughout the exhibition hall, again this is dependent upon the weather. However, Danny is on the Century Composites stand and I know from the reaction of people who spoke to him, everyone said how interesting he is to speak to. Also, Danny loves working with children and they, too were thrilled to get advice from the World Casting Champion.
Times of other talks - i.e. fishing in Ireland, fishing in Scotland, fishing in the Faroe Islands, will be notified on Sunday on posters throughout the exhibition hall.
I hope everyone who visited today enjoyed the show and look forward to meeting more visitors tomorrow.

Canny Afternoon

Canny Afternoon

Hello,

I had a look down the Sea Angling show this afternoon and thought it was very good, especially considering it was the first one.

There were displays and stands by tackle manufacturers and tackle shops (Century, N.e.t.s., Billy's), angling holidays (Din Tur and others), Angling clubs (Amble and Seaham).

The team from Total Sea Fishing magazine held question and answer sessions covering everything from uk angling and the license debate to pirk casting in Norway. Danny also held a casting display which despite the strong side winds went very well.

Whatever your interest in the sport the was something for you to see.

Well done Sam and all concerned, it was very good for north east sea angling.

Regards, Ian.

had a few hours there yesterday,i had a good natter with danny and gary on the century stand, even got a signed hat(wonder if i can cast more than 70 yards if i wear it!!)
well done to all involved, really good day and a boost for northern angling

welldone mr harris, i hope this will be the 1st of many, i was a bit will i wont i go after waking up with the most nutorious of hangovers but it was well worth it in the end, had a good craic on with the lads from seaham sac, the century team, tony anderson of sonik, barney wright and roger mortimer from tsf and ian peocock from dintur, all a great bunch of lads and very helpful.

was very impressed with big dannys casting, in all honestly even the better of casters would have strugled to get it past the 1st rugby post in that near in your face gale:eek:

Got a lot of fedback from a lot of people. Every exhibitor at the show has said they will be back next year and some have asked for bigger stands so everything points to this being a great success and the show carrying on in the future. A website is being prepared ready for next year. All I can say is "WELL DONE SAM, THANKS FOR LETTING ME GET INVOLVED".
I know Sam put a lot of hard work into this and I for one am pleased it was such a success. This is what the north east has needed for a long time.

North East Sea Angling and Boat Show

North East Sea Angling and Boat Show

Many thanks for your support and kind comments lads. Yes - it will be on next year - bigger and better!
All of this year's exhibitors have re-booked, plus there are more companies asking if they can be present. The suggested dates for next year are Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November (does anyone know if there is a local Derby match on that weekend!). The event will be at Nissan again. We had speculated about going bigger and making it a game, coarse and sea show, but we have decided against this and it will remain the North East Sea Angling and Boat Show. We are going to try to keep the costs to the exhibitors and visitors the same - if we can. Without a doubt Danny Moeskops on the Century Composites stand was a big draw. Unfortunately, particularly on Saturday, the weather could have been kinder - but even then Danny put casts out that the majority of anglers could only dream about and I have been assured by Danny that if you wear an autographed cap of his, it will increase your cast - by how much, he didn't say.
I would like to give a public "Thank you" to Topfly and Mike Haley for their help - because, without them things would not have run as well as they did.
If anyone has any suggestions (within reason!) to make the show better, I would be pleased to hear from you.
Talking to Barney Wright from Total Sea Fishing at the end of the show, he is planning to bring some scantily dressed 'dolly-birds' on to his stand next year to try and seduce you into buying the magazine.
Again - many thanks lads for the support.
Sam

I appreciate the effort put into the whole event, thanks. Had a look down on Sunday and enjoyed watching Danny casting. Bit dissapointed at the range of stands and it was quiet (if it was heaving I'd be whinging) everyone that was there were a pleasure to talk to and very helpful - I'm going to Ireland for my 72 week summer holiday next year ;) Even got offered some work possibly - not as a Dolly Bird, before you ask, or a casting demonstrator, or on the tea urn, or as an hotel inspector - I tried all that :red:
