Norway 2010 ?

Could be light (ish) 24hrs a day at certain times of the year (summer i think), if the sea stayed sensible you would be able to fit a lot of fishing in, hopefully sea should be sheltered to some extent in the fyords.

I simply could'nt afford to drink a lot, full stop.

Would be happy drinking water and eating cod in exchange for some good fishing.

i think it worked out at around 600-700 quid last time. Best person is to speak to are those at NETS in sunderland they book people all the time - i certainly would be interested for the biggie. I like others would be going for the fishing and not the booze but may have to have a little snifter.

Hi fellas, just joined the forum after browsing for a while.
As previously stated give Ian Peacock a ring at N.E.T.S or send him an email
[email protected], asking for a couple of different packages, really helpfull guy.
4 of us have booked with him for next July, to Buvik, north Norway. This worked out £398 each excluding flights. Price includes accomadation, transfers, and boat hire for the week. Flights cost us £144 each return from Gatwick, direct with 40kg baggage allowance.
U can fly from newcastle, but will mean 2 stops en route, and will cost close to a grand return.
Some slightly better venues such as Loppa, Arnoya, require extra flights etc. and the overall cost jumps up dramatically.

Thats what sort of price I was expecting Jason.

Welcome to the forum hotdog and cheers for the info, (your not from seaham are you ?)

Hope your trip goes well for you's.

Did you book the tinny boats and did you get one or two between the four of you ?

Who's coming then ? What time of year do we fancy and where ?

Cheers
Martin.

I don't think I would fancy Noway in February , the land of the midnight sun is also the land of the midday moon in the winter I believe , but if there was a trip going during the summer months and there was a space to fill I'd be interested too, I'm not into shore fishing or drinking though :red:

Yes mate got 1 tinny between the 4 of us, bit of a squeeze, but should be ok.
Its set in a sheltered fjord, with the open sea close by, looks like u should be able to find somewhere to fish whatever the weather.
Will be taking own food and a few bottles of spirits, to help relax on a night:).
If anyone is thinking of going over there, dont wait to long to book flights, as the prices start going up, nearer to the date.
Not from Seaham BTW.

Its OK saying that the cost of the flights is £144 flying from Gatwick. But how much extra is it costing to get there (Gatwick) and back and if the flight times are not of the best, and if your flying from Newcastle - Gatwick your aircraft carrier may not have the same baggage allowance and then theres the problem of connecting flights.
Shame the DFDS ferry wasn't sailing from North Shields OK for southern Norway I suppose.

Fair point there sid, 4 of us are travelling down in 1 car on the friday, (flight 09.40 sat) and staying in a hotel at gatwick, with secure parking for the week, £108 between 4 of us.
Surely no one aint daft enough to start booking trips to norway, without doing a bit of thinking, regarding transfers etc.

Funny! I Never Think Twice When It Comes To Booking A fortnights Holiday Abroad. But For Some Strange Reason Trying To Add Up The Pros And Cons On A Trip To No*way Just Makes The Decission For Myself That Much Harder To Make.
Wonder If Thomas Cook Has A Package Deal ?

Don't Forget About The Cost Of Living In This Country.Never Heard Of Anyone YET! Saying Its Cheap.Food And More Importantly Drink Will Make The Cost Of A Trip Higher.

just want to add a little to this . i live in norway and it is not cheap at all . the price of a pint will cost you between £6 and £9 depending on where you go :o
also hotels are not cheap. an ok hotel will cost you around £70 a night.
i fly regulary from stavanger to newcastle ( direct) that will cost you around £4oo if you book way in advance the airline is called widrøe airlines and they are part of the sas so if you book through sas they will give you that airline. you can also fly klm but that means a stop over in amsterdam for a couple of hrs and that will cost the same as sas.
so what im saying is if your getting a package deal for everything for £500 then you are on a winner , i looked into it a couple of months ago and for 1 week including 4 days boat fishing flights and hotel total cost was £1,300
if you need any help on checking things out over here i will try my best to help you out ( pm only )
hope this helps you out guys and good luck if you decide to go for it .
also if i remember right there is a big boat comp every year with big fish and big prizes ( not sure when or where but again i can find out and let you know )

I'll let you know Scott but can't see anyone pulling out mate.

We are paying £120 for flights from Stanstead to Trondheim and Phil is picking us up and dropping us back off at airport all as part of the cost.
Driving down to London and parking is costing £30 each then £375 for the fishing and digs. This includes rod and reel hire plus floaty suits and a days boat fishing. Phil is also taking us and showing us the marks to fish and picking us up!!!
The apartments look very nice and are right beside the harbour.

£525 total then food on top!!

Its a once in a lifetime trip really and for all a good day boat fishing is not a given its a better chance of catching a 20lb+ cod or coalie etc.

Not sure about you lot but in 14 years boat fishing our waters i have only landed 3x 20lb+ cod and 5x 20lb+ ling with no big coalie or wolffish so it's a dream for me :)

Just wondering what the deal was with taking rods over, do most people get travel rods or just pack their boat rods into a tube to fly over ?

Would mean buying a travel rod for me if its dodgy to take full size boat rods over thats all.

Cheers
Martin.

We are getting everything provided apart from rigs and weights. All good stuff aswell. The place we are going has a tackle shop so you can buy your bits there.
