Pairs KO first round draw

Terry, Well said, too true its learning new venues and having a bit crack with people with a common interest. Pity about the numbers that have signed up but if it turns out to be a success for those that take part this time and good feeback is posted then a few more might take part next time.

Looking forward to it.

Hi Foz, am goin fishin with you and david but am not sayin owt! lol

Quick question Terry, Is there a time limit on how many hours you fish? or do we just agree it on the night with the other team? I don't want Browny keeping me out till 4.0am till he finally catches summit :D

ur probly right adam is the strongest link lol

Hope the comp goes well Terry. I think it's an excellent format and I only wish I lived closer as I'm sure Rod and me would be up for it.

In case anyones interested, we are fishing first round pairs ko tonight.

Zippies like a cat on a hot tin roof, i think he only gets let out every so often.

Fozally seems pretty much laid back and confident.

Fishing the river so we get a result on the night

Well Rob you asked the question!

As arranged we fished our first tie, originally picked over low water as we intended to fish on the open coast however because of the flat calm sea and the clear water neither of us wanted to win or get knocked out by rocklings so we opted for a change of venue and headed for a river mark where we thought there was a good chance of some sizeable fish.

We ended up at Hebburn, MB took Zippie to the grass bank while foz and I fished the mesh.

As we were setting up Foz tried to bribe me with an alcholic beverage to which i declined.

Rods assembled and rigs tied up it was time to bait up, then the nightmare began,i had left my bait in the fridge at the shop and that would have meant driving home to pick up the shop keys, then to the shop and back down to the river.

Just ready to set off for home Foz came over and offered a share of the bait he had, an offer for which i was more than greatful of and took him up on.

The tide was ripping out so we had to use 170g grip leads, also loads of flotsom floating down with the tide which made things difficult. Third cast into the session and i was into a codling, just knocked it on the head and Foz was fishing, he also landed a codling, slightly smaller than mine.
Got another codling next cast to which foz replied with 2 undersized codlings.

It went quiet for the next hour ( apart from the running commentry via txts between Foz & Zippie), so we decided to move further up river closer to where MB & Zippie were fishing.

For the remaining 2 hours of the match i had very little or no bait ( was too embarrassed to hint for more off Foz) and had to watch him catch fish after fish on just about every cast up until the end of the match.

We finshed at 11.00pm and met up with MB & Zippie to compare notes, had a cup of tea/coffee and a chat, off loaded the fish to Foz for his dogs, shook hands and went off on our seperate ways home.

I think i can speak for all four of us, we had a really enjoyable session and the patter was good also, the match was fished in good spirit with just a hint of competetiveness (if thats the right word) oh and we caught some fish to boot.

Yours Truly. You must have seen me slip a VIAGRA into the Xmas beverage offered (thought it might take your mind off the fishing and onto something else).
Unfortunately the 'fish after fish' were undersize and I know you dont want to gloat so I will annownce that YOURS TRULY and MB were the victors of the match.
If anyone is thinking of joining in any future pairs comp' like this I would highly recommend it, as YOURS has already said a very enjoyable session and look forward to the next comp' though me and Zippie will have to wait a while on this occassion.
Well done boys and good luck for the next round

Biting my tongue, why not likely.

Someone on the board has a saying at the end of each posting:

the more i fish the luckier i get, Graham i hope thats true.

Hope the next round is as much fun, i am sure it will be.

All the best mate and to each and everyone on nesa.

Well done all of you ,can't wait for our first match.

You and me too Steve.

I was assured when entering this comp that I would have loads of nights that I could fish.

Those nights are like the winter, they are getting shorter.

I think it will be left to the last night where I cannot fish as I work every Sunday. If it is I won't enter another comp organised on here and would discourage everyone else to do so also.

I am now down to five nights, not a lot out of three weeks.

Before all the downers come back, my partner has been in touch and we still don't have a date. I don't live on the coast and find it difficult to make most comps, that is why I posted the questions in the first place.

Jim.

Well done to Terry and Martin for winning and to fozally for his sportsman like approach to the comp in sharing his bait, but bad luck Jim (that is if the worst comes to the worst mate).

I only wish that me and our Davey could have entered for the craic and the chance to fish a few (hopefully!!) new marks, but I work shifts and it would probably have been really difficult to find a time that suited all 4 anglers so I sympathise with you fully, but that is why we didn't enter in the 1st place.

Saying that, I wouldn't let it put me off entering the next one though and hope that nobody else is put off as it seems a great comp and a great way to learn new marks and better yourself as a sea angler.

Well done to Terry and Martin for winning and to fozally for his sportsman like approach to the comp in sharing his bait, but bad luck Jim (that is if the worst comes to the worst mate).

Got to agree Rob, it does'nt get better than that mate.

4 days now.

Jim.

Jim, i am sorry you feel this way, but please check your pm.

Yes i did say you would have ample time to fish the tie ( 3 weeks), however i did not bank on your opponents failing to contact you.
I have sent Adam a message to contact me.

For this comp to work then the pairs need to be in contact with one another.

If any team fails to contact in good time then please let me know so i can do something about it.

If work clashes with the final date then another date will be made.
