RED DIESEL ALERT

Well what do you know, after Ell brought this to our attention i did an article in the Sunday Sun about it. Wanting more info i contacted the Labour party, after a couple of e mails i finally got the answer they knew nothing about it. Who is telling the porkies

Did not read your report on the Red Diesel situation Charlton it was just brought up in another forum. Well its supposed to take place in 2007 I personally can\'t see it happening, but you never know.
The farmers would have to pay full wack, what would happen then, there\'s an awful lot of industries use off the road vehicles powered by diesel, anyhow it give you something to talk about until the sea calms down. :D :D :D :D

Blackvelvate, the way i understand the proposal is hat it only concerns pleasure activites, those going about commercial activites, i.e. farmers will still be exempt. Have signed petition, e mailed Boat magazine, and also again the labour party. See what they say this time

Alan i am suprised you expect to get a stright answer from the labour party you might aswell expect tony to turn tory

Billy, i have always supported labour, for how much longer? and over the years when asking them Q\'s on many matters have always had a straight answer quite promptly. Have spoken to their press office at London on a few occassions and they have always been very amiable. Will be interesting to see what they say. Maybe some underling read my e mail and thought he could fob me off.

sad but true, vote em back in and it will happen - guaranteed. they\'ll call it \'environmental\' or they\'ll say it will help prevent greater duties on white deisel or they\'ll tell us that if you can aford a boat you can aford to pay duty on the fuel. (oh yeah and probably a licence to cover lighthouse maintainance etc)

the sad fact is they\'ll still get voted in regardless. Had a discussion with someone the other day that went like this,

Q: so will you vote for em again?
A: err yes
Q: why
A: well I\'ve always voted for them and so has me dad
Q: so you think everything they are doing is fine and dandy
A: no
Q: then why are you going to vote for them again
A: see answer number 2

I don\'t care who people vote for I just wish people would do so based on some rational logic

I\'ve signed the petition (several times) I need to, the amount of red thats gone in my cars over the years!

As a lighter note, I discussed this with my other half earlier, her response to the \'you\'ll only be able to get white diesel\" scenario....

couldn\'t you just put some red dye in the white stuff to make it red again.

you\'ve gotta love blondes really

I dont vote at the moment as i dont think there is anyone who is strong enough to run the country the way it should be run. They all give you the vote winning manifesto then screw you other ways. I do admit life is not too bad at the moment on the surface but if you dig just under the surface film there are major floors to the way our fine country is run. (Pollitical ranting will be saved for elsewhere).

As you know Mark living in this area, If you put a red rosette on a monkey it will win. As for putting the red dye in the deisel..... I have been doing that for years. They havn\"t caught me yet.

Jim.

I have stand with Jason, \'there aint\' a good one to be had if you put the lot together\'. Being a high flyer in polotics is nothing more than being a good actor, being in the spot light. Poloticians love it, they will say anything to keep their profile and promote their ego. Red deisel, if Labour gets in again, that will be the least off our (the countries) worries. The trouble is, who has the answers . . . ? O\' yes, silly me, Brussels they pull our strings now. Seing a bit \'red\' this morning. :casstet: CJS

another one of the reasons behind this is apparently that there\'s no red deisel in europe as such so its seen as a little unfiar on em that we have it.

Funny that they don\'t mention that out white deisel is twice the price (or more) of some European countries. Chance of banning red to make it fair AND reducing the price of our white in line with the EU

you know the answer to that one already.....

Oil prices are something I\'ve had a soapbox stance about for years. Cartels are illegal, yet OPEC - the worlds biggest/most powerful cartel is OK!

why are fuel prices high - cos OPEC say so

funny how the americans have an in built veto to OPEC though, and can tell OPEC what to charge THEM

Charlton I had an E-mail from Rob Peake of the boat magazine and he said they do know about it as he has been e-mailing them.

So if farmers etc. are allowed to use red diesel( which is only red to say that it is exempt from tax) How could they stop the boats from using it??????? you can buy red diesel from some farmers anyhow.

White Diesel and Petrol in the UK is expevsive because 80% of the pump price goes to the Government as \"tax\". The point is, the government cant afford to lower the price of fuel cos\' they would be broke!!! And in any case if they did, the revenue has to come from somwhere. Beer, Fags, I dont smoke, and drink so little, \"a snif of the barmaids appron\" and I fall over.

Tax, now there is an option, a new tax band at 60% (many years ago in the conservative time Sir Alic Douglas Hume, I think, was PM, we had a 90% band?) for the high earners. Bit ironic realy, the \'Green Government\' say we should use Public Transport, if we did it would be disasterouse, someone is not telling the truth, speaking with forked toung, but then, whats new. In recent years (months) there has not been a truthfull word come from Westminster or the Whitehouse. There are a few dead soldiers who can lay testimoney to that.

We have a sword hanging, and Blair will drop it if he gets another 4 years. One gets the feeling only the rich are going to get anything out of the next Labour sorry \'New Labour\' (funny way to spell Conservative) gouvernment. And that only because they can afford to pay. The likes of the ordinary man in the street is in for a decade or two of hard times. And finaly when the penny drops, all change, nothing will change \'cos the new lot blame the legacy they have inherited from the old lot ! and so the merry-go-round continues.

Red diesel, you a\'int seen nothing yet ! ! ! CJS :casstet: :yltype:

Hi Heather
i sent an e mail to Rob Peake, telling him about the answer i got, most interesting was his comment. Obviously i am waiting to see what the Labour Part say this time.

good on you charlton. Like I said Bob Peakhas been e-mailing them, so it\'s a bit like this :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: I have been told a while back that using bread soaks up the red dye and leaves the diesel white again, so if you got stopped and dipped by the police your in the clear, but I would imagine that it would cost you more to buy the bread in the first place. I hace noticed that some red diesel has less dye in it. we always put fuel injector in our diesel every 5 gal that\'s the boat .
